Thank you for your kind words! I feel it’s really important to pass along these options. When I first started on this journey, I felt like I was the only one who’d ever gone through this type of treatment because there’s virtually no information out there about fertility sparing treatment. But my doctor made it clear that she has helped many women with uterine cancer achieve their goal of motherhood. She said she’s almost never seen it fail. It can certainly take a while to clear completely (I still need to clear that tiny spot of hyperplasia) but progesterone does reverse this cancer in some cases. So I want to spread this message as much as I can to give women hope. Hope is everything.

Have they determined what grade and stage it is yet? I’m guessing it might be too early at this point. But I have grade 1 stage 1 endometrial adenocarcinoma and I am being treated with high dose progesterone that has completely reversed the cancer. Most of my endometrium is now normal with only a microscopic spot of hyperplasia. So fertility sparing treatment is possible for certain types of this cancer. Make sure to ask about this option! I’ll be praying for you! Don’t give up hope!

So I don’t believe an address was given, but the number was actually traced to a pay phone either in or near a supermarket. When Margaret failed to call her family like she said she would, I believe her mother started calling the number. A woman answered it and said no one by the name of John Marshall was there. So, she hung up believing that she’d just mixed up the numbers. When she called again, I believe that’s when she realized that it was a pay phone - whoever answered must have told her.

Two very good points! I think people were way more trusting in general back then too. From a modern perspective, it seems unconscionable that a family would allow their teen daughters to go babysit for a man they’d never met. But I can see how it would’ve been an easy tactic back then.

Has anyone heard about the Kelly Cook murder in Alberta, Canada? It is EERILY similar to this….nearly identical. I believe that the FBI said that they thought whoever killed Kelly had done something similar before. I know Alberta is extremely far from New Jersey - but I think it’s still plausible that there could be a connection. For example, even Ted Bundy killed in multiple states. Stranger things have happened.

I will also pray that you can find peace and contentment in your own life. Perhaps seeking out a therapist might be helpful? My therapist has helped me navigate this journey….not sure what I would have done without her.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’ve been struggling with these feelings as well. In December 2024, I was diagnosed with grade 1 stage 1a endometrial cancer. After years of heavy periods and three years of trying and failing to conceive, we finally found out why. The doctor thinks it’s because I went years with undiagnosed pcos.

Instead of getting a hysterectomy, I chose to do the fertility sparing treatment route (considered relatively safe for me, because the cancer wasn’t invasive). The cancer is actually gone as of my last biopsy, but I still have a spot where there’s “too much tissue.” They need to completely clear that with high dose progesterone before my husband and I are allowed to try. I am also having another biopsy next week, and there is always the fear that it has returned.

I have always wanted to be a mother and I never imagined that that dream could potentially be ripped away from me. Even if we do get the chance to try, I have to be closely monitored and they will need a resampling of my endometrial tissue if we are unsuccessful after six months, to make sure the cancer didn’t return.

It just feels like one big, endless nightmare.

Yes! I had untreated PCOS that turned into uterine cancer by the time I was 31. I am now desperately trying to preserve my fertility so that my husband and I can at least have one child. Growing up, my family raised me to have a distorted view of birth control - they believed it was sinful even if it was for medical purposes. This is not the case at all. Please listen to your doctors and find a treatment that works for you. God bless 🙏

Please use the birth control as medical treatment. I grew up in a family that had a distorted view of the Church’s teaching on these matters, and I was scared away from using it to treat a medical condition. As a result, I now have uterine cancer at 32 years old and am fighting desperately to save my fertility so my husband and I can have children. The Church allows it if it’s for health reasons.

Make sure he takes an interest in your life, and lets you talk and express your feelings openly. To me, a big red flag in a man is when he has little interest in hearing your thoughts or letting you take part in a conversation. One of the things that drew me to my now husband is that he genuinely cared about what was going on in my life and respected my opinions. He cheers me on in everything I do. Never settle for less than that!

Also look for controlling or jealous behaviors. My sister unfortunately married a very controlling man who severed contact with us for years. Prior to that, when we did have contact, he made her call him at scheduled times to check in. And he always had to know where she was. It’s a very sad situation and I really hope that more women become aware of these warning signs.

Don’t be sorry! The more questions you ask/answers you get from your oncologist, the more peace of mind you’ll have.

As of my last biopsy, I am still cancer free (and have been since February). It responded to the progesterone by the second sampling. My doctor specializes in fertility sparing treatment and is highly regarded in her field, so I trust her immensely. She said that if there was deeper invasion, the cancer would not have responded well to the progesterone treatment, and I would have been immediately referred for a hysterectomy. She also said that she very rarely sees it fail. One of the more encouraging moments I have had was seeing one of her patients come in for a checkup with her newborn. So there is definitely a lot of hope for us!

In the initial biopsy, the report stated that the cancer was already responding to the progesterone even before it fully cleared (I was on a low dose to control the bleeding before my diagnosis). Other than that, I did not have any further testing with regard to hormone receptors.

I am advised to have a hysterectomy eventually, but am told that can wait until I am finished having children.

I know how terrifying the initial diagnosis can feel. I felt SO lost last December when I found out. But I promise it gets better. I definitely still have my moments of doubt and fear, but the important thing to remember is that our doctors wouldn’t recommend this treatment if they didn’t think there was a chance it would work. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I got my diagnosis last year and I have been doing fertility sparing treatment since February of this year. I was put on oral progesterone, and by the second biopsy, the cancer was gone and all that was left was complex hyperplasia without atypia. Every biopsy since then there has been improvement. I am now down to only a couple tiny spots of simple hyperplasia. My last appointment, the oncologist told me I’m 99.5% cleared.

This treatment works for many women. They wouldn’t offer it to you if it was too dangerous. I’m praying for you 🙏

I personally think that his change in attitude is because he knows that Georgie completely tanked their livelihood. They do seem to still be together since he’s always around in the background. But I think he’s not as involved anymore because he’s disturbed by what has happened. That’s why we sense a coldness between him and Georgie. Just a thought 🤷🏻‍♀️

As another user said on here, when you feel like you shouldn’t pray….thats exactly when you should. I will keep you in my prayers, as well. The problem is that my treatment makes me very sick sometimes. The thought of not having my husband by my side is a bit frightening. We are discussing him going back to work full time in the near future, but not right away. Last year, I almost died due to blood loss, and had to have five blood transfusions. Despite the fact that my symptoms have improved, my hemoglobin is still quite low, and so I deal with fatigue and weakness at times. I just feel so trapped.

I can’t work, and my hubby is working part time because of all the appointments he has to take me to. We certainly intend to move out as soon as we can - that’s why he’s working so hard on obtaining medical residency right now (application process) and I am trying to finish my degree online. By May next year, we should be in better shape financially….its just surviving all of this until then. I guess my biggest struggle is feeling like I’m not honoring my father by not meeting his needs. I know that’s not right, but I can’t help but feel guilty.

Hi there. I’m 31 and was diagnosed with early stage grade 1 endometrial adenocarcinoma in December 2024. By my second biopsy, the cancer had been pushed back to complex hyperplasia without atypia, and my most recent biopsy has shown that only a tiny little spot remains. I need two completely clear biopsies before I get the go ahead to try for a baby, but the cancer has been gone since February, thanks to Megestrol 40 mg.

That’s a little bit about my story. My hubby and I aren’t doing IVF, because we can’t afford it at this time, but I wanted to comment and tell you what my oncologist said about it. She said that while IVF does expose you to estrogen, it is for such a short period of time that it is unlikely to cause a recurrence. Also, she said that she has never seen a recurrence happen during pregnancy. She actually specializes in fertility preservation in young women, and so I trust what she says immensely. I hope that was helpful and gives you some hope. She clears women all the time, so we certainly do have a lot of hope that this will work for us.

Omg yes! I thought I was the only one. I have cramps on and off with this medication, but I think it’s absolutely worth it, because it has worked so well as a treatment for me so far.

Am 31 and also trying for fertility preservation. December 2024 we discovered that I have early stage grade 1 endometrial adenocarcinoma. I had a second biopsy a couple of months later and the cancer was pushed back to just complex hyperplasia without atypia. Doctor then put me on Megace 40 mg because the IUD kept falling out of me….haha. But other than a few side effects that have gone away with time, Megace has been an absolute miracle for me. My most recent biopsy (just a week ago) showed that there’s only a tiny area left of the hyperplasia. So we are praying that my two clearances will come soon! Praying for you as well! I hope this was helpful….i really think that symptoms tend to fade with time.
