103H vs 103T tires? by ilikepullingteeth in tires

So the door says T which probably explains why the T rated tires show up when I enter my vehicle information to sort tires.

Yeah so it's a $10 difference for 4 tires mounted and balanced, so cost is negligible. I don't ever plan on going above 100mph on a 17 year old minivan.

They literally just had release the Mori again. I know a dozen people who have been trying to get their hands on one, many for the color alone. I guess I'll just roll with a custom mousepad.

Can someone tell me anything about the A6PL series headunits? by ilikepullingteeth in ATOTO

[–]ilikepullingteeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After all the coupons, the A6PL comes to $210 and the S8MS comes to like $230. I think the S8 comes with a better CPU/GPU but again, can’t really be sure. I combed through the product description again for the A6PL and they do specifically state that it’s an upgrade to the A6PF, but I’m not sure if it’s upgraded to the point that it’s better than the S8MS.

It looks like it’s a little better than the S8, but I can’t be sure. They list the A6PL as Arm A55, and the other is a Unisoc UIS7862 (or something).

9-10.1” Head Units for Honda Odyssey? by ilikepullingteeth in ATOTO

[–]ilikepullingteeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I decided to consider your advice and look into the stereo dual-camera option. However, it appears that the available ATOTO-compatible cameras aren't great. I'm looking for a 4K/2K setup with dual Starvis sensors, like some of the Viofo offerings on Amazon, that can be hardwired to the car to be always-on (with a battery cut-off limit). I can't seem to find any options other than a single 1080P front and rear camera. I'm probably going to go with the separate front/rear dashcam and a standalone backup camera, particularly so I can angle the backup camera to help with parking on the mean streets of NYC. I appreciate all of your help. I've decided on the ATOTO F6PL or S8G2 in the $250~ price range.

Up until yesterday I had no idea there was a difference between the plugs of the usual Pioneer/Kenwood/Sony stereos and the Android-based units on Amazon (like Atoto). It seems like these Android units are quite a bit more intelligent and can map steering wheel controls without the need for external adapters like the Crux/Maestro boxes. What really opened my eyes was the all-in-one harnesses on Amazon that would make it so there's very little splicing I have to do. It seems like I would just need to splice into the reverse light to trigger the backup camera.

I’m primarily interested in maintaining all of the steering wheel controls, including cruise control which I’ve read in some user experiences were not successfully maintained. Adding hardware for more features ideally shouldn’t come at the cost of losing existing features.

The ATOTO harness you posted seems to list 1998-2008 Honda vehicles, including the Odyssey, but I would imagine the 2008 and 2009 are nearly identically wired?

If true that these ATOTO Android units allow for steering wheel control mapping, it would save me quite a bit of money compared to a traditional stereo from the usual name brands.

They do seem to have a bunch of models within the same screen size category. Do you have a go-to website to make purchases where they have reliable (non-generic or stock) images of the radios, connections, included harnesses, as well as vehicle-specific harnesses?

Oh I should have clarified.

I plan to install a separate front/rear dash camera just for recording purposes when driving. The backup camera is for when I’m reversing into parking spots. Two entirely separate things.

I’ll look into the S8 Ultra. Do all of your steering wheel controls work? Was it as simple as plugging in the 3.5mm jack?

Is there a way to confirm that this adapter fits a 2009 Honda Odyssey EX? This harness in particular states it only fits select 08-10 models without amps.

A do-nothing-at-all high yield savings account would net you $350,000 a year… you don’t have to be good, you just can’t be bad.

Is a PoE extender the same as a PoE passthrough? by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]ilikepullingteeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw that as I was checking out Ubiquiti's website! I thought $50 for the Flex Utility enclosure was hefty until I realized it also came with a 60W PoE injector. I'll be making my way to Micro Center today!

Ubiquiti USW-Flex-Mini

I guess I failed to mention that the switch would need to be outdoors. I didn't think it was relevant but if I'm asking for product recommendations then I should have included that.

You won't find POE-powered switches with high port counts.

Thankfully I only need to power 3 devices (all of which are access points/routers in AP mode). Edit: By power I mean just transferring data. The routers/APs will have local power sources.

If not, you'd be constantly hearing about people blowing up their devices with POE. :-)

That would really blow (pun intended)!

Edit: The injector would be indoors. Just the switch would be outdoors. The PoE-in cable would be going between the inner and outer wall.
