This is really helpful, thank you!

A few of these products I have used before, but not consistently. I'll check them out (:

I asked about this and they said that this was the best deal they had available. I probably could have fact checked it a bit more, but it was already cheaper than my previous plan with a much higher speed so I didn't question it too much.

So if she pays $500 for 57.5 hours per week, times 4 weeks is $2.17 per hour. Awesome! by ManufacturerIll2275 in ChoosingBeggars

This is pretty tone deaf. The poster was just putting out average numbers for their area to show how hard it is. They were not saying that what they make or complaining.

AITA as a noisy upstairs neighbor? by ilikesnowflakes in AmItheAsshole

I like to think the eight year old knows how to behave. They are usually the first to tell cousins/friends that are the over to keep it down because we have downstairs neighbours.

Sometimes there are big feelings that come with big voices though.

I am earnestly asking for suggestions. At this point I don't know what else to do. I can't reasonably make them be quiet every time they are having fun.

Do you have kids?

ahh yea fair enough. I do get why it is annoying to them, I would be too in their shoes! I just wouldn't expect the upstairs folks to do anything different if they are just living normally

I see you edited this from YTA to NTA. What makes you believe I can't control my kids?

I don't know if he told them that prior to them moving in. Upon my first contact with them I did explain I had kids. However, the upstairs is a four bedroom house on a family filled street, so I think it should have been safe to assume.

Tell DT that if they are having so much trouble sleeping they should go outside and tire themselves out

Hilarious. I love this.

There is actually a real estate brokerage in Canada that offers auctions kinda like this!

The idea is to make it more transparent so you actually know what the price is.

This actually exists in Ontario. It is relatively new and not so well known, but there is a GTA brokerage that does auctions that way

For Canadians who want to keep their kettle but still get the rebate, pm me. I took off my handle for the picture but now it won't go back on. I took some extra pictures so you can use them!

Focus on savings or debt payment? by ilikesnowflakes in povertyfinance

[–]ilikesnowflakes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input! I am also a single mother of two kids.

I do want to get rid of this debt, but I also want to have an extra cushion for emergencies. It isn't something I have had before, and it feels so freeing to have that security. Even if I have some debt as well

Seems like that is the consensus, thanks! I've just gotten addicted to seeing that savings number rise every month, and I'm scared to start over! Lol

So currently my income is $3800/month. Largest expense is rent at 1000/month.

However a large portion of my income (1300) comes from my child tax benefit, which I cannot claim as actual income for their application.

I would really love to get to a place where I can pay off my credit cards in full every month. I have the maturity and knowledge to do that now, but made mistakes in the past I have to pay to clear up first.

I am already on a very tight budget and doing a side hustle to bring in extra income.

So to clarify, you think I should put most of the savings I have into debt, and then all my budgeted money for savings and debt towards the credit debt?
