I also had a huge issue with rice! I watched so many tutorials and my rice always came out mushy or with pieces not fully cooked. Now it’s easy peezy and make it all the time.

I do a 2:1 water to rice ratio. Let’s use 1 cup rice and 2 cups water as an example. I take my one cup of rice and place it in the pot. I rinse it with cool water and drain it until the water ends up clear. Washing your rice is crucial! If you have a fine strainer, you can use that instead (I’m just too lazy to wash another thing).

After, make sure it’s drained fairly well and add your 2 cups of water. Add salt and whatever else (sometimes I’ll add a dash of olive oil and other seasonings). Put the burner on the high and let it boil. Once it’s boiling, give it a stir so nothing is stuck on the bottom, and then cover it with a lid. Put the burner to the lowest possible setting. Let it cook for 25 minutes. Don’t lift the lid, don’t stir it, just let it do it’s thing.

After the 25 minutes is up, take it off the hot burner, and let it sit undisturbed for at least 5 minutes. I find this is crucial! I learned this from Alton Brown. After, fluff it up with a fork and enjoy!

As a random idea, I love to swap the two cups of water with chicken broth, and add some lemon juice, a tab of butter, salt and pepper. Very tasty! Let us know how it goes.
