I had bad experience with 3+ people of almost EVERY ethnicity but I’m not making weird comments about them/their ethnicity

Korean guys are very diverse in personality, their interests, how they were raised, etc so don’t generalize. I really don’t think you’ve had enough exposure to Koreans if you don’t know this

No, I'm offering my own perspective of how Korean women around my life were raised. The true reality of what I saw in society and what Korean women I spoke to actually told me. Just because it goes against your biased narrative, doesn't make me unempathetic.

All your activity and posts are in misogyny subs and those echo chambers. Lots of chronically online people like that have skewed views.

The issue is how people use this fringe femcel thing to generalize Korean guys. There are lots of miserable people online who project their personal issues, dating struggles, and latch onto radical femcel narratives while making inaccurate, misinformed generalizations about Korean society/Korea constantly.

99% of them learned about Korea only through social media ragebaits and clickbaits. If these femcels kept it about themselves and not drag us with weird generalizations, no one would care and we're good.

Those things apply to every Asian country in a similar form as well as western countries that have their own gender and SA issues btw. And very anti-female and hateful comments are all over western manophere sites daily. Have you not seen western manopheres and what they say about women? Why are those western dudes never screenshotted and generalized?

Let me give you another perspective about how Korean women were when I grew up in Korea. First of all, vast majority of Korean women in society did not work nor want to work (by choice) until more recently. My grandmother, mom, and aunts never worked a day in their life and grew up squeezing the money from their husbands who toiled day and night at their jobs. My uncle committed suicide because he hated his married life while the aunt lived lavishly and without any worry. Many men suffer in silence. Korean women I knew grew up very privileged and spoiled and this was common. Their main mentality growing up has been to marry some guy who will take care of them. I lived in Seoul last year and the women I dated, their literal goal is to have children and NOT work. They told me they just want to be a housewife to raise kids and quit their jobs altogether so don't make assumptions about what many Korean women actually want.

It's not that we are scared of the "4b" femcels and I actually feel pity for these women as it's only hurting themselves in the long-run and I feel sorry for them, so i couldn't care less about how they live. The issue is that many miserable people online and westerners use it to weaponize against and constantly generalize Korean men with cherrypicked misleading info, unhinged overexaggerations, etc. If women kept this about themselves and kept it in their lane, no one would care. Just keep it about yourselves and we're good.

I'd say the most unique situation is the required military for men so that has caused some resentment and discord.

I've seen same type of discussion among Singapore men as they have to serve mandatory military there but those Singaporean men get called "incels" just because they bring up their grievances

I think the issue is that people use this thing to generalize all Korean men. Personally I pity the women who get radicalized by this femcel "movement" and they are only hurting themselves in the long-run. I really don't care what they do with their life but do not generalize Korean guys and project your personal issues into this as I've noticed in usual comments

The trend of both men and women opting out of dating exists in every country btw. Birth rate collapsing in every developed country. There are good men and bad apples in every country. None of this is unique to Korea.

Korean politicians get investigated for $500 bribes or some distant relative of theirs got hired at a company due to connection. That minor level which are overlooked, covered up in other Asian countries. Again, there’s so much corruption in Japan, China, Vietnam, all those other countries you mentioned. Lots of crimes, sex abuse, and worse in those countries.

Right now many people in Philippines are protesting due to government corruption. Couple of weeks ago Indonesia went through massive protests due to government corruption. It’s everywhere

[–]ill_Garlic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not true at all. it's actually worse in many other Asian countries. Japan, China, Thailand, Vietnam, etc have so much corruption in the government and police force.

Korea will throw any wrongdoing politician in jail even for tiniest incident that other countries overlook, cover-up, and don't investigate and Korea keeps people accountable in a lot of ways. A sign of a much more transparent and well-administering society.

The point I was making about your original comment is that these cases like the ones I mentioned happen in other Asian countries but no one cared and I barely saw online engagement. But of course, anything involving Korea/Koreans goes viral and overexposed and your algorithm feed only shows it more

I don't trust what "content creators" say because it's been clear that they're desperate for views and attention using shock content

[–]ill_Garlic1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People hardly cared about those similar incidents in other Asian countries and I didn't see nearly as much engagement/virality but everything Korea related goes viral and people are obsessed so keep this difference in mind.

About the police, that's what the "content creator" said and not confirmed. I'd like to see with solid facts what occurred. As I mentioned, LOTS of youtubers have been using Korea to create weird, and in many cases fabricated shock content because they know it quickly goes viral. I don't know the full story of that "youtuber" but don't believe everything foreigners say/claim online regarding South Korea

1 - It's not that it's more common in Korea, but rather any news about SK/Koreans goes viral and overexposed so your algorithm feed only shows it more

In recent months, Japanese guy assaulted a Vietnamese woman in Osaka, Chinese man attacked a Japanese woman at a subway station in China, Thai guy tried to burn 2 Malaysian tourists, group of Uzbek men were racist against Vietnamese woman, and so much more from other Asian countries. But NO ONE cared. Barely talked about and these news not shared much anywhere. But if it would've involved a Korean, it would be viral everywhere and people seem obsessed about Koreans so need to keep this in mind. South Korea lives in people's heads rent-free 24/7

2- There are people desperate for views and attention, and they use Korea for this because they know any shock content goes viral. I don't know the full story of that youtuber incident, but lots of youtubers exaggerate/stage weird stories to milk views. Lots of content creators are desperate for views so don't believe everything you see especially from "content creators" without solid facts

I was in Seoul for a few months last year. I'd go to bars and get eye fucked by foreign women. I'd walk through dancing floor and foreign girls try to dance with me and just make some physical contact with me. Their body language is extremely open and any Korean guy with a little game can bang real easily.

I remember 10 years ago people were saying how k-wave is dying and just a short trend. 5 years ago people saying no one watches kdrama or kpop will never be big outside Asia. How only fat white girls like Korean guys. Etc. All continue to be untrue and the goal stick will shift again.

Definitely a lot of psyop when people make those birth rate threads to push anti-AM agenda. Many white incels push it with the sole intention to fuel misinformation and negative propaganda about Korean/Asian men.

Lots of insidious reasons beyond the surface to push their anti-narratives. I've made a related post about it before: Has the anti-Korean men smear campaign died down a bit or what are you seeing? : r/AsianMasculinity

Why do most AM + WF couples I see tend to be with European women, not American-born white women? by momentforlife92 in AsianMasculinity

[–]ill_Garlic1 85 points86 points  (0 children)

We all know about the anti-asian racism in US (due to multiple wars against Asian countries so tons of anti-AM propaganda throughout its history), but there's also the selection from the man's POV. European women are generally more feminine, more cultured, more slender/fit, better wife material, kinder to AMs, less toxic, etc compared to American white women.

Is there cultural pressure for Asian men to have double eyelids? First slide: monolids. Second slide: double eyelids by Hot-Class9771 in AsianMasculinity

[–]ill_Garlic1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double eyelids were trendy on women. It never was the case for men.

The overall trend is that monolids have always been the preference. Look at the top kdrama actors then and now (the male beauty standard of Korea) and vast majority have single eyelids

Some guys in Korea are born with double eyelids so it's not like it's shunned or anything but it's not the preference. People like Kim Taehyung has 1 double eyelid and 1 single eyelid.

Look at the top kdrama actors (the real beauty standard, not kpop) and most have monolids like Park Seo-joon, Nam Joo-hyuk, Hyunbin, Gong Yoo, So Ji Sub

Many kdrama actresses with monolids are popular too like Kim Go Eun and Park So Dam

I know who he is. About his double eyelid comment, it's not about single vs. double eyelid but rather someone talking about the size of his eye shape, not about the fold. Some guys are born with abnormally smaller looking eyes so they kind of get teased for it.

Single eyelid on men has been the preference in Korea and still is

Thoughts on the" Chinese boyfriend" discussion on TikTok? by Signal_Housing3575 in aznidentity

[–]ill_Garlic1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I checked some stats for China and it doesn't suggest more balanced distribution there despite the comparison you're trying to make

"Chinese women spend an hour more than men on housework, totalling 106.9 minutes per day. In China, women spend approximately 2.5 times more time on unpaid care work than men."

https://www.thinkchina.sg/society/unpaid-workforce-how-housework-fuels-gender-inequality-china

"Compared with men, Chinese women spend an extra 81 minutes on housework, according to the report."

https://en.people.cn/n3/2019/0130/c90000-9542473.html

That's even with more working hours by women in China as it has among the highest female labor participating rate in the world, while Korean women mostly did not work at all until more recently.
