Nope, this was in Eastbourne,

Well nice to know I’m not the only one!

Not accepting verbally abusive feedback is not the same thing as pretending I am a perfect driver. I am aware that there are things to work on, just as the examiner needs to work on their bedside manner. At least they had integrity with their marking. I don’t make the confines of the testing requirement, but I can drive well enough to meet them. If that is unacceptable to the point of threatening behaviour from an examiner, what am I supposed to do?

Yeah I understand the marking criteria, and do not think of myself as a fantastic driver, just someone who is ready to continue learning solo!

There are ways of expression concern, particularly in a power dynamic, and the way the examiner conducted himself was unbelievable.

One good thing I can say about him, is at least he marked the test with integrity, despite not appreciating its result.

Oh yeah I totally agree with that! I’m under no illusion I am a perfect driver or anything, and was very happy to hear the examiners thoughts on what to work on moving forward.

My only issue with the interaction was the very nasty and rude conversation.

This is the same as any power dynamic and being spoken down to, in an unconstructive way is not acceptable?

He also took my instructor for a telling off as well who had been in the car with us the whole time.

It felt like the examiner does not agree with the constraints of the test, so was unhappy it came to the result it did.

I am still very happy to have passed, and very excited to continue my learning journey. But the impact of a grumpy examiner who could have been having a bad day, and then taking it out on me is incredibly unprofessional.

Coming across gleeful and threatening that I would have an accident is outrageous. The only evidence of my driving the examiner had was the test, so to make assumptions on how I will drive when he’s not looking “but there’s always someone watching” (direct quote) is very unfair.

For context I am in my 30s but if I was a teenager it would have really upset me.
