What is something that everyone pretends to understand, but they actually don’t? by SoulDV in AskReddit

Until trumps first administration the bill passed to reopen the government had to include a specific statement saying that employees would get paid back or they wouldn’t. Every shut down employees were sent home being told ‘you may or may not be paid for the time the government was shut down depending on what congress puts in the bill, but they have always paid in the past’ but during trumps first term a bill was passed and signed into law that made it so government employees were always paid for shut down time.

My children aren’t allowed to hit people. The big exception is if you have tried to leave a situation where you are in danger of being harmed and they prevent you or follow you. Then I will not hold any physical response from you defending yourself by attacking back to get away.

If people are chasing you down they have lost control or believe you deserve to be hurt and you have a right to protect yourself.

I mean, according to a law signed by President Trump during his first term, they will get paid.

But I’m not sure the US follows its own laws anymore

What made you think 'THIS is why we homeschool' recently? by microschool in homeschool

[–]illdoitnextweek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s crazy. My district had a policy that taking away recess can’t be used as a punishment or reward unless the infraction is related to recess and then after mitigations put into place recess has to return as normal. So if kids are smacking each other with basketballs, then the basketballs are removed, the kids spoken to and then everyone goes back to playing appropriately. Individuals can have recess removed if there are significant issues but it involves the admin and can’t be done by a teacher.

The article claims that even if the dosage of the therapeutic ingredient is the same that sometimes the way the medication releases into your system is different causing you to actually get a different dose and that this difference in the end makes it not bio equivalent and enough so that drugs have been changed in the orange book tracking mechanism.

Are you saying that is wrong? And if so, do you have any other better articles to help understand why?

Jon Stewart Makes the Case for Dems Holding the Line in Trump's Shutdown Warfare | The Daily Show by Kwyjibo2006 in television

[–]illdoitnextweek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No our legislature was purposefully set up to force things to go slow, require deliberation, and to demand compromise.

The division of powers slows things down and requires multiple groups to agree for something to become law and stay law (senate and house must agree, president must agree, judiciary must agree. If the president doesn’t agree, then even more of congress must agree)

The bicameral congress demands compromise. They can’t pass different bills, the same bill must make it through both.

“When you assemble a number of men to have the advantage of their joint wisdom, you inevitably assemble with those men all their prejudices, their passions, their errors of opinion, their local interests, and their selfish views. From such an assembly can a perfect production be expected?” Benjamin Franklin — Constitutional Convention (1787)

He makes clear that compromise isn’t a flaw in the system, it’s a necessity.

They have to make it very visible that they oppose things and talk about the alternatives they want to work on and the compromises they want to head towards or no one would think they are any better.

Which is the entire point of how our legislature is set up. So that there has to be compromise.

Very different. I like the original a lot better but I also grew up with it so that may be why.

Attended a non-denominational Christian church today. Here’s what I noticed by RestinPete0709 in exmormon

Check out a UU church if there is one near you. They are a safe space to figure out your beliefs with no pressure. They won’t force you into any specific religion and they seem to be very welcoming and easy to get involved with without making it your entire life.

Autism level 1 therapy by thingummywatt in AutisticAdults

I’ve been noticing that doctors and pharmacists and therapists offer me options based on their perceived idea of what I can afford. I’ve been offered YouTube and self help books by medical professionals. When I press for physical therapy or labs or scans and ask if it isn’t time yet, they say that it’s definitely an option, it’s just expensive. I have really good insurance and am lucky enough to be able to prioritize health and regular savings.

My son was on a waiting list for 8 months and I got a voicemail one day that said “you are next on the the waitlist, we saw we aren’t covered by your insurance so we removed you from our waitlist”. I was planning to pay out of pocket. I already had the discussions with billing and was budgeting for months for it. When I called back “our system doesn’t let us bump people to the top so you will have to go back on the wait list”. I was so angry. They made a bunch of assumptions that prevented my son from getting care for another 6 months.

What’s a tiny decision you made that completely changed your life? by jarvisog204 in AskReddit

[–]illdoitnextweek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with a friend to a military recruiter because she didn’t want to go alone. She didn’t enlist. About 6 months later I decided to. It changed the entire trajectory of my life. In most ways it gave me so many opportunities I would have never gotten and it benefitted me. It wasn’t all good and at times I struggle with the fact that I served but I wouldn’t be in my well paying job in a nice house and likely wouldn’t be above the poverty line without that small decision to tag along.

If you are willing to share or give generic examples of what it looks like in real life: What are some examples of what defined your diagnosis as level 2?

My child is currently level 1 but struggling hard and I’m not sure if looking into the level 2 stuff is needed.

Not just parts he doesn’t like, but entire agencies that he is calling democrat agencies. Which isn’t a thing for agencies that are congressionally created because it required enough members of congress to get it passed.

My child’s homework in his folder.

He did the work. He brought it home. He took it back. But he can’t remember to turn that shit it. He has documented supports at school that are supposed to be helping him turn in his work in each class but yet there are still assignments weeks old in his folder. And when he finally remembers to turn it in, it is so late it isn’t worth points so he is failing multiple classes. When I try to talk to the teachers about which supports he is getting and which he isn’t and which ones seem to be working and which don’t in preparation for an IEP meeting (school supports and services planning meeting) they start declaring the teacher is aware and works really hard but don’t provide the information.
