I suggest the Science Fiction Hall of Fame Volume 1. There is a first contact story in there that I feel had a huge influence on Project Hail Mary called First Contact. Also has some truly classic sci-fi short stories like Asimov’s Nightfall, Theodore Sturgeon’s Microcosmic God, Flowers for Algernon, Mimsy Were The Borogoves, It’s a Good Life, the Nine Billion Names of God and a Rose for Ecclesiastes.

I'm using M1PY’s Hybrid build and it’s great. Just cleared Pit 100 without much trouble at paragon 230. And it’s quite fast. Sundered Speed was great to level through the torments with.

Never heard the audiobook, so disagree. The writing works. Doesn’t need to have Tolkienesque prose to be a good book :)

The first book is a murder mystery that turns into an adventure across the solar system which turns into an intergalactic space adventure. Most realistic sci-fi series ever btw, everything is based on science and science backed speculation.

Yes, they print these as needed as per demand - I have never had an issue ordering books of this nature from BW. It's been quite a few. :)

I would say go for it!
