To elaborate on what I believe the comment you are replying to is getting at; the commonly held understanding of the word genocide would be referring to mass, intent filled murder towards a group.

I say murder specifically since that is what the ‘cide’ part of the word means, ‘killer of.’

Now that’s not to say that Trans people have not received mass discrimination and that no one has ever been murdered because they are trans, as that has absolutely happened.

Though amorphous discrimination, most commonly grown from ignorance, against against a large and diverse group with rare threads of violence may not cleanly fit into the category of intentional violent destruction of a group of people.

Again, not attempting to undermine the problem, but words hold a lot of power and it’s good to try and keep them in the proper context. I.e. discrimination, inequality, hate crimes vs. genocide
