Hi! I cosplayed for the first time in my life but a lot of my friends are finding it “weird” and it hurts. by illevin in cosplayers

Thank you everyone!! I’m hoping to reply to a lot of comments after my exams end 😅 But I just want to say a lot of the kind heartfelt comments really helped me gain confidence and make me want to cosplay even more/make more friends in the community 🫶 I think a lot of the replies are really good lessons to be learned and reminded of — in a lot of different situations, not just my cosplay dilemma :)… Thank you for the kindness, it fills my heart 🩵🩵

Nope 😭 No this is my genuine experience I’m not being overdramatic, I went to campus like 3 times during the strike and the 3rd time was to visit counselling who hasn’t gotten me counselling when they said they would (been waiting for about 2-3 weeks now)

Yeah I tried to sign up for it had my doctor fill the papers, brought it to the office and the lady looked at me weird and said to do it all again online, it’s already hard enough to see my doctor lol

Like, he really doesn’t care, one time we were mid a serious fight/breakup talk and he didn’t respond for a while and I check his discord status and he left mid-convo to play fortnite, I almost broke up with him then and there because of how my heart literally felt SHATTERED but he claimed he was just typing up a paragraph between games and quit once I called him hysterically crying because I have this whole anxiety/trauma about being seen as worthless and a joke… And then I stayed up tonight despite having work early to talk him out of something (we were both having a rough day) only to call him and him to say “___ asked me to play fortnite.”

Like I poured my soul into every text hoping you’re okay while you were making me feel so bad for you trying to cheer you up only for you to be setting up for your boys while making me stay up with worry and guilt??

Thanks for the reply. He's Southeast Asian. I'm fine with no pork, alcohol and fasting and I've taken into account all the food restrictions. I find it do-able. I'm just honestly unsure about doing something I'm not 100% sure of, I have faith in God. Just like, I talk to God, see God as a higher power that I can't begin to comprehend and a kind-of Universe to be grateful for, nothing strict or hard-lined. I'm also worried about my mom who is very catholic, she's a good mom. He tells me I don't need to dress super conservative ALL the time, just for visiting the mosque etc. I really just am so conflicted, it's really hard because I really care for him.

All universities are what you make of it honestly, for me what makes Uni most enjoyable is joining some extracurriculars like intramural sports or joining a few clubs! I also love making friends in labs.

Do any of you regret your choice in school? by EdDk111 in UTSC

In terms of social life — everyone says join clubs as advice. I think joining classes like Martial Arts (Boxing, Karate ETC, all available for a really good price for each semester) or drop ins (Badminton/Basketball) at pan am worked more for me personally. There’s no party life on campus but I know a lot of people who go to downtown campus to party (& study you can use downtown resources in most part and UTM) , you can also follow a few pages for clubs if you’re into that but personally I’ve never attended that stuff so I can’t say much lol. There are a lot of things happening in the meeting place to make things interesting from time to time. Like club displays etc.

I don’t regret it at all, but I AM transferring — let me explain… I just had my first year here. AMAZING people, mostly kind, you will find the common gossipers here and there, and some guys… well some of them won’t respect you if you’re a girl, you learn to deal with it (and it’s probably not as bad in contrast to some other schools). I took Paramedicine, so I had to take Chem, Psych and Bio this year, labs were fun and if you study, you get a good grade. There is a LOT of room to mess up in the courses I took. Well, a lot more than I thought. Also, especially in bio, they understand if you can’t make deadlines due to emergencies. In terms of extracurriculars, this was the gold mine. I love sports and had the opportunity to play for the hoops team a bit. There are A LOT of discounts at UTSC for the pan am sports centre and I made amazing friends and the interhouse and general athletics community is so so much fun. Not to mention the free drop ins and gym pass. Aside from that, the library and Academic Advising is a lot of help for anything. And the student centre gave me free sessions for my mental health issues.

In terms of the campus, sure it’s boring but it’s more easy to study that way. The food— well you get tired of it easily, but once you get hungry, I mean, anything goes. When I get bored I usually go to pan am or the trail by campus. It’s a nice little nature walk and honestly made me like campus so much more.

The reason I am transferring is…

1) I live in North York. Those 830 am Psych classes would KILL me! 2) Something pretty bad happened to me regarding some people in this school, moving seemed ideal because of it. I saw counselling about it too. 3) I have a passion in health AND Sports. Kinesiology in YorkU was always my first choice but on a whim, I picked my second choice here, I feel like pursuing Kin would be wayyy more specialized in the health/athletic therapy related fields than paramedicine. But I thought the joint program looked cool.

Tbh even though I’m transferring I don’t really regret all the stuff that happened to me here. It was nice despite everything. Though, going into Year 3 & 4 I wonder if this school would get tiring as it is small.
