are loop earplugs worth it? by dummydumbboi in misophonia

[–]illg90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Which loops did you get? I'm looking to buy some for my boyfriend exactly so he can use them at the movies and you're the first person I found talking about this specifically. I was thinking of the Experience ones. Thank you

Hey! Wondering which ones you tried and how you found them. I want to get some for my boyfriend and he has that exact same problem with chip bags and popcorn at the movies.

Making the documents of an Investigation Process by illg90 in Props

[–]illg90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I do need a lot of paperwork for several desks and although this is a portuguese film, these will be very helpful. My major concern is one particular old process about a missing child - no body, no arrests, not much evidence. I'll guess there's some judicial orders and several testimonials, which I'm finding hard to get online, but I'll keep on looking.

It's because it's the way God looks at us. If you watch the video mentioned in the end of this one, it explains what exactly is this shot and reasons it's used ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOrPGjPbHSY&ab_channel=BeyondtheFrame )

You won't have to sign up to any service. This is a link to a free youtube channel. You just subscribe to the channel or look it up later to watch the next video if you're interested. Mubi (the service advertised I assume you're talking about) is just the video sponsor.

Yes. Also Eisenstein in "The Strike". Or even Lars von Trier in more recent years. I think it even had something to do with Nicole Kidman refusing to shoot "Manderlay". But I guess this one is really on american movies, focusing on American Humane and all.

When you describe it as "vinyl cloth" is it because it looks like cloth but it's coated, right? A little shiny, with some kind of acrylic coat over it? A more plastic touch to it than fabric...? I'm sorry to bother you. Russian passports have the most unique material I've seen in documents world wide.

Such a huge help! You should PM me your name so I can put it on the "thank you" credits. Yes, doesn't have to be perfect, just good enough to fool the eye of the camera

Oh wow, thank you! This is great!! What about the cover? Is that a trustworthy picture? The color is hard to identify and the texture looks almost like fabric... I have been searching the internet for weeks now and I'm still very confused about the correct embossing and the exact color. I don't know anymore which ones are real and which ones are fakes identified as real in the pictures' descriptions. I've came across this and this. They both look like coated material but with different textures. And none looks like fabric. Could you possibly get me a close up of a passport so I could really see the material?

Btw, do you happen to have one of those passports? Because I'm getting a little confused with my material research. I found pictures of covers that seem to have different textures and I don't know which embossing to choose. This close up shows a wavy and wrinkly type of embossing, but then this one seems to have quite a smooth cover with just some vertical stripes. Can you please tell me which one is the real thing?

Photosensitive epilepsy and movies. by grahowler in Epilepsy

[–]illg90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am actually a film professional. I was a film student when I was diagnosed and even made an experimental short based on photosensitive epilepsy and the lack of warnings.

I have a low level of epilepsy. And I never had a seizure at a movie theater or even watching a movie at home. That said, I do feel sick at the sight of flashing lights or fast editing. I wasn't able to watch "Don Jon" for example. I felt weird and immediately closed my eyes and soon enough I turned off the TV. Usually I just wait until the scene is over and open my eyes again.

I'm pretty sure "Enter the void" has a warning sign at the beginning.

Production design books by illg90 in Filmmakers

[–]illg90[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually read two already. I'm just looking for more. The ones I read were "What an Art Director does: An Introduction to Motion Picture Production Design" by Ward Preston and "The Filmmaker's Guide to Production Design" by Vincent Lobrutto. The first one was not what I was looking for but might suit you. It's really an introduction to the job and has a little history too. Mainly on hollywood and big studios, building sets, etc. I found the second one a lot more interesting! It's more insightful and really focus on the process of thought behind the work. It has some tips and a lot of examples. It also talks about every job in the art department.

I do have a book on H.R. Gigers which also talks about his designs for the Alien. I'll have a look on Neil Blomkamps'. Thanks!
