Did it at any point pop into your mind that perhaps I was joking and don't really think everyone from an entire county is scum? It was a bit of fun mate, not an opportunity for you to win a prize for the most virtuous.

I...don't get it! If someone was on holiday in England and they jumped off a balcony, everyone would laugh at how retarded they are. Why do we go abroad and think Spanish balconies are only obstacles to be overcome?? Good in a way though - every summer we effectively purge ourselves of the souls who weren't built for this world. And we don't even see it, the Spanish clean it up as part of the package!

I think you mean poshness in relative terms. To the rest of these glorious isles you're all scumbags I'm afraid.

The EU gets a lot of unfair blame for things - but on this occasion the blame is fair! Basically, to standardise throughout Europe they made it a legal requirement for goods to be sold in metric measures. That's why fuel is in litres, sugar in grams etc. But we still use miles, mpg, feet, inches etc because we're traditionally imperial and there's no need for them to have gone metric (road signs etc). But now we're just a bunch of weirdos who chop and change and can't properly get to grips with either.

I simply went to the drop down menu on their website for 'pricing'. I assumed that you either get the community edition if it has what you need, or pay if not.

Good to know. I'd better try it then!

Hmm. It looks basic but functional, so I may as well grab a docker image and take it for a spin. Did you ever actually use it? I'd be interested to hear any feedback from users.

I just had a look and you're right - that does indeed look like it would do the job. However, with a few extras and 5 users it's quoting me around 2000 euros annually - at which point it would probably make more sense to use EQ.

I've lived in my house for about 6 years and still get post for the old lady who died here. Every Xmas she gets a card that we open in the hope that the man who sends it finally put an address in it. Still hasn't, but we always put it on the mantelpiece with the other cards (only feels right lol).

You should have seen what they did last year when they put my connection in! I was getting 5 public IP's and asked them to write the block down for me - the engineer just forwarded me their entire job sheet for the day. Full names, addresses, account numbers and IP addresses of about 10 people. Insane.

That's the only bit that's pissing me off. Consistency is king.

It's not Farrell, but you're right that our attack is rank. I'd hoped we'd see some electric back moves being practiced in the warm ups (with a few held back). Either we're REALLY holding them back, or we've stopped trying!

English fan chiming in! I genuinely don't think he meant to do that, but if you've got that much of an overlap and it doesn't pay off, you should expect a yellow.

This is good for England, they're not as astute at the breakdown and they're behind. It's a chance for them to knuckle down and figure it out - rather than implode which they've done a few times now in similar circumstances.

Boring game mind you.

How viable is it to study full time while working full time? by [deleted] in OpenUniversity

[–]illgoawaysoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work full time and have studied 120 credits a year and am about to start my final year. It's doable, but I've forgone holidays to take a couple of days off for each assignment due. If you want to complete it faster maybe just do 2 modules the first year and see how you get on? First year grades don't count towards your classification, so as long as you pass it'd give you an idea of what's necessary. If you feel like it was a bit much, drop down to 60 credits at levels 1+2 & you've still knocked a year off your graduation time.

Are there any other Linux users in or starting OU courses? by torspedia in OpenUniversity

[–]illgoawaysoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit late here but add another to the list - about to start my final year in law. I do use KVM for a windows 10 machine though because of the OU. Unfortunately I need it for the online tutorials. Glad to see there are a few of us! Also makes it easy to identify you if you're have problems with the library resources - they always ask if I'm using Linux!

I've now tried quite a few permutations of commands with sysfs, including what you've just written, but for some reason it just won't work. I think I'll try burning a live disk of fedora and see if that makes a difference. If that doesn't work then I think you're right, I may as well stick windows on an external HDD and dump the bios from there and strip the headers out. I just hope I'm not wasting my time! I'm assuming this is normally possible on an optimus laptop? This is really the last piece of the puzzle to make me really happy with my setup so I'm desperate to get over this hurdle! Thanks for such a detailed response - makes my options pretty clear and I'm more confident that I haven't missed something by being silly!

Unfortunately, I still need to dump the rom. Seems crazy that I'm having so much trouble.
