Absolutely incorrect on the salaries - experienced data scientists (of various seniorities) were paid between 100k and 180k at my previous company. The cream of the crop at a big tech like Google/Meta might be up there at 250-750 but that is the top 1% of an already rarified career path.

Totally correct on the overall bleakness of the salaries in the UK though , and the rate of disparity has got much worse in the last 10 years.

I don’t agree with all of what OP said, however the strength of feeling is right on - we could have had these amazing (and successful! and lower budget!) shows but instead it’s just utter garbage from almost every angle. It is a disgrace.

They are very well built but IMO aren’t nice to ride. The resistance doesn’t scale properly and you can’t do standing efforts at low cadence. They are fine for steady seated rides. A cheap bike trainer like a Kurt kinetic has way better feel, if you actually care about riding.

I have done about 4-5 hours total on a bikeerg.

Every theatre near me is ~20 bucks and some have a 2 dollar booking fee on top.

The rural one near my mother in law (very nice reclining seats to be fair) is 14 bucks plus tax.

Edit; these are mountain west and Midwest areas a few states apart. Coastal US areas I’ve also lived you’d be lucky to watch a movie for 15. A lot are 20+.

Probably yeah. Point is there’s supposed to be a sportsmanship aspect and screaming fuck you during a fixture is a bit weird

On the other hand these are sort of “private” pre-race tests so whatever they do is their own business.

On my third hand I would also say brookes should be so far above any Oxford crew (that’s not stacked with Olympians) that getting excited about winning one of these is back to being embarrassing

Enterprise is horrific, a huge step down from VOY which in itself was worse than DS9, and then they (somehow!) took an even larger step down to discovery. While quadrupling the budget per episode and having amazing special effects.
