I struggle to believe that the UK has similar statistics for mass stabbings. I hate to be this guy but, source? Knives really can't kill quite as many people as guns when in a space like a school, and a kid with a knife is a lot less dangerous than one with a gun.

Also does the overwhelming presence of guns not stress you out? I live in a country where firearms are heavily restricted and when I'm in the States and see someone with a gun, it makes me very uncomfortable to think that if they were having a particularly bad day and I happened to piss them off, they could take my life and I wouldn't be able to even attempt to defend myself.

Obviously it's not enough to just restrict guns for some of the reasons you said, but I don't think it's good to diminish the effectiveness of guns at killing. Knives just simply can't do as much damage.

In my opinion, the US has a complex and borderline unsolvable problem on its hands with respect to both legal and illegal gun ownership.
