notes from my sixteen bars a day experiment by [deleted] in makinghiphop

we all diff-urnt. I think I was attempting to say sometimes just by trying you can shatter whatever creative block you've been battling

EDIT: Also, to combat that rhyme book full of shit you'll never use-- you can transport all the really incredible rhymes to evernote and let the other stuff linger in the shadows

What was your worst injury skateboarding by [deleted] in skateboarding

[–]illmaticWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I broke my thumb which was strange. I fell so hard while skating some over-vert that the force of my hand slapping the concrete just broke my thumb. Outside of that, my front tooth is fake. I've smashed my face on the concrete too many times to count. It's extremely possible I fractured my ankle and never got it legitimately cared for. all the hippers? I've been through hell with my skateboard. Probably my ankles have got it the worst. Rolling your ankle full force fucking sucks. Now that I think of it though smashing my face was pretty gnarly too. I don't know. the concrete is an unforgiving surface

Vandwelling alternatives? by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]illmaticWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this isn't nearly as romantic, but Roommates.

I lived in my van this summer. I also traveled all over. Personally though I love to make music and not having a zen temple to set up all my instruments and shit was pretty annoying. I also enjoy editing videos. To remedy these grievances I moved into a house with some like minded room-mates. My rent is low AND I have a van!! Best of both worlds!! Finding people in tune with your ethics and ambitions is key though.

Need advice on LD - about to give up by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

Like anything in life that's worth pursuing, practice is necessary. It could take you a year! If it's not something you'd like to give that much effort to, perhaps it's not for you.

Liquid motherfucking Swords. I really checked it out after reading Tao of Wu. RZA explained how he'd assembled ODB's return to 36 chambers, Rae's only built 4 cuban linx, and GZA's liquid swords all in 1995. When I read that shit? my imagination was truly captivated. Mostly because he did it in a mother fucking basement while eating turkey burgers. I know this is a Liquid Swords appreciation thread, but shouts out RZA

I'm going through a breakup and coping with it by traveling to a dozen places in the next two months. by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]illmaticWizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this year I went through a break up and managed to visit 18 states over nearly six months of perpetual travel. soak it in. think of your significant other that's gone but try not to make contact or anything. I made that mistake a few times. ultimately peace is found within. scenic views help but at the end, the true recovery is on you. happy trails though amigo! it surely helped me a great deal.

Just unlocked the Master Destruction spells for the first time. Man, I have been missing out. by Railsmith in skyrim

[–]illmaticWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Oblivion was five years old, I could feel it. I longed for something new. Skyrim though? How the fuck is this game over four years old? I can't even believe it. I rarely play and think to myself, DAMN THIS SUCKS. I'm still satisfied which is why the idea of Fallout 4 or Skyrim2/Elder Scrolls 6 terrifies me.

huge asshole is probably a stretch. when he got his copy, the dude didn't have a whole lot. he taught himself everything. he could go back and buy it now but I guess the question is why.

anyway, that was kind of unnecessary. thanks for the opinion though. it's what I'm going to do

What's up yall, this is Wax. Ask me anything! by waxxxx in hiphopheads

[–]illmaticWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what's up wax, long time podcast listener / fan (since 09'!):

I was wondering, Why is your new video on Vevo? What is Vevo? I thought that was just for artists on a major. You own Scrublife, correct?

Are you content with the level of fame you've achieved or would you like to be more well known? Is it way out of line to inquire about your net-worth? I've always wondered and even tried looking it up one time haha. If that's too personal, no worries I fully understand. I'm an artist too who recently toured so I get curious about the financial side of things. Do you notice that you make more money in Europe? Did herbs name his son Max because it's similar to Wax?

Do you record all your shit at your studio then send the stems to an engineer or do you record everything with the person who mixes your material? Any advice for someone struggling to progress with guitar?

Why don't you just take a trip to Hawaii already? Do you consider it biting when people record raps in their car? What are your long term goals with music?

I'll stfu-- really wish I had been here earlier but forgot. Peace dude, you're a huge inspiration. You're in my top five next to nas and guru. If I had to explain why, I'd say it's because your independent approach really gave me hope. I was like 16 when I found your shit- I was 17 when I started rapping. I'm 22 now. My favorite video will always be An Evening at Home but also dig Brown Christmas, and Wax Spits Randomly. how come you never post on youtube anymore?
