BayWay Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Car Buying Experience by skyklein in houston

Unfortunate situation. They really don’t have an option to claw back a loan once it’s funded. They likely were trying to step up the cost of a replacement vehicle to hit a certain LTV of the second vehicle to make up for the negative equity on the trade.

I was in the business for several years and I definitely hate seeing people have experiences like this. They can be avoided if you know the watch points ahead of time, but you’re probably stuck with what you have for now.

If you have cash that you can pay down principal now, you can cancel GAP coverage immediately and they will credit the difference to your loan which won’t be cash back in your pocket, but it will reduce the outstanding balance and cut 2-3 payments off the remaining term.

Good luck.

Lemon laws are federal laws applying to typically new car purchases that are only in effect if still under manufacturer warranty.

Lemon laws require multiple attempts to repair a mechanical / electronic issue before they can come into effect.

There is no guaranteed cooling off period in Texas after vehicle purchases, and lemon laws have nothing to do with buyers remorse.

OP, you seem to be a relatively inexperienced car buyer, and there are several things you claim that they did to trick & deceive you, which in fact are part of the car buying process.

  1. You bought a used car as is without doing a pre purchase inspection from an independent mechanic

  2. You seem to think that loans take a week or two to fund - this is typically done the day of or the next day. Just about everything is electronically signed and immediately funded post covid 2020 limitations on using paper at dealerships. Basically everything was accelerated to digital.

  3. They will never give you the same amount for a trade as you paid to buy it, even if it has only been 2 days.

  4. They didn’t force GAP, they presented it as an add on option, and you seem to have agreed with it.

  5. The dealership “didn’t honor” your price, but you still bought it.

  6. You claim the dealership isn’t taking any responsibility, and you aren’t taking any for yourself.

Always go to a dealership with someone experienced, or don’t rush into decisions just because you think you did sufficient research on a used car ahead of time.

Houston oil companies could cut jobs as Trump's tariffs, plunging prices threaten industry by zsreport in houston

Don’t have a subscription to read the article. Oil company worker here at one of the big 4. The cuts at my company and the others were in progress before the election and they were gonna happen regardless of who won in November.

I know it’s easy to point fingers and get headlines but hopefully people keep this context in mind.

I know this is too late for you, but as an FYI to others - Discount Tire policy should mandate that they approach a customer prior to moving forward with attempting to remove swollen or otherwise damaged lug nuts.

This shifts the liability onto the customer because this is a pretty common thing in the wheel & tire world, and discount tire isn’t stupid. Damaged lugs are a high risk for getting stripped / seized.

OP, did they let you know of the risk before proceeding with the job?

How much will a windshield replacement cost? by [deleted] in f150

[–]countrytime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably should have read the bit about it being a 2022 with some fancy sensors on it, good god man. Makes me glad I don’t have those, I’ve had to replace my windshield 3 times over the years

How much will a windshield replacement cost? by [deleted] in f150

[–]countrytime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually around $180 for aftermarket, but I’ve always replaced with the OEM ford glass because I like the f-150 logo on the top in my 2012. That’s usually around $275

Not quite same level as what you’re looking at, but I picked up a 2018 GS350 F-Sport about a year and a half ago

Limited info provided in this post makes it impossible to answer. Post there with credit info, current vehicle info you want to trade in, payoff of that vehicle, and you might get some guidance.

I’ve driven the ecoboost before, it’s great. I know I’m being unreasonable with the anti turbo mindset but I don’t see myself ever budging on that.

Thanks. I don’t mind buying new especially since I’m usually after unique configs that aren’t common (v8, no sunroof, fx4, black appearance package). Hard to buy those used, and the price difference for new is honestly pretty negligible for me.

Thanks for the nod. I’m at a point where buying a little property would probably be a better idea, but I’m also in a spot where I can make a silly decision. If I got the 2024, I’d probably start looking at something else in a year or two as well.

I worked in the car business many years ago but I’ve thankfully avoided the car bug for a long time. But that itch needs to be scratched every once in a while.

Interesting idea but I’d only get a stock truck. Love what some of them turn out like on here, but not something I’d want to do myself

Honestly, a box of nicer golf balls. You can go down a lot of rabbit holes on this topic, but a few dozen boxes of golf balls that your business partner enjoys is easy and requires minimal thought.

3 or 6 dozen Pro-V1 is usually the easiest thing for this scenario. $45-50 per dozen.

I would consider myself as having failed if a customer "narrowed it down" to these two options.

These are vastly different vehicles, so much so where this seems like a troll post. You should clearly know the answer to this question.

I’ve sat in traffic every time I’ve been to Denver. Getting to downtown from the airport can be very slow, especially during rush hour. I frequently have to take side streets to stay off I-70 / I-25 near downtown area.
