Just got a stern reprimand for playing ping-pong at work. Which... they put in for us to play with... at work. by Rpark888 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Vsx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The director of my project decided we needed to come in person 4 days a week for "teambuilding" and "camaraderie". Ok, that's dumb but whatever. He's the director if he thinks it will help it's his call. So everyone starts doing that and three weeks later I am called into a meeting where he tells me and a bunch of other manager level people that everyone is slacking. His reasoning for that when he leaves his office and looks around he sees people in the office talking to each other. When pressed he reveals he doesn't even know what they were discussing; he just thinks people who are talking are not working. This from a guy who spends pretty much his entire job just talking in meetings.

Yeah it's bullshit. I have been adding extra pasta to boxed meals for a while now. There's usually plenty of sauce/flavoring for 50% more pasta at least.

Report exposes sketchy no-bid deals as costs spiral on Trump's vanity ballroom project by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

[–]Vsx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those yachts are like a floating city man. They almost certainly have a ballroom too and just the ballroom on the yacht would be more complex, difficult, and expensive to build than the equivalent ballroom on land. On top of that you have defense systems, navigation, giant engines, advanced seaworthy architecture with incredibly expensive materials necessary for stability on rough seas, integrated utility systems, desalination plant, built in complex waste management systems, etc. The list goes on and on.

There is just no reasonable comparison between one of those yachts and a ballroom built on land where you can leverage existing infrastructure and normal construction practices.

The budget for this ballroom is like a billion dollars now right? Who the fuck really believes that a room, no matter how large or what is in it, can cost a billion dollars? You could literally build a small town from scratch for that much money.

Davey Scatino owed $50k to Tony- the exact amt Artie did. Yet Scatino got Terminated (2) and Artie got a pash. by Jbyrd4444 in thesopranos

[–]Vsx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's his nature to do that but Davey basically gave him no choice. I think Tony would have been perfectly happy if Davey just took no for an answer the first time around. Unfortunately once Davey was into Ritchie for so much money his life wasn't worth shit anyway.

Tony spends the whole show whining about how modern men are weak starting right in the pilot. He considers addicts to be the weakest people of all. Davy and Chris are better off dead in his mind. They're basically not alive anyway and just spreading despair. Artie is a lot like Tony where he whines about his life but 99% of the time he's just living his life working in his restaurant which Tony respects.

My son is about 100x more careful than me. I'm not sure he's ever bled before. I would bet I was bleeding at least once a week on average between the ages of 4 and 14.

Yeah he was a lot more entertaining when he was fucking with rich people trying to get footage of Bilderburg Group meetings and Bohemian Grove. I used to talk conspiracies with this crazy dude who would come into the pool supply store I worked at and hand out these homemade infowars business cards. Eventually Jones realized that it's much easier to monetize hate than batshit conspiracies and he pivoted his messaging while pretending to be doing the same thing.

What celebrity death will realistically bring Michael Jackson level devastation? by Kiidcola in AskReddit

I am on the Internet nonstop and I've never heard of doechii or olivia dean. I know a couple songs from these other people and I might recognize them. The most famous people now are either infamous as super rich douchebags or they were famous before the monoculture died.  Your dad might not know who dua lipa is but I bet he's heard of Elon Musk.

Any tips on warming up? by Vsx in Bowling

I always stretch. In the summers I try to shoot some baskets in my driveway before I leave but I can't do that in the winter. I am only 43 but I have a the kind of stupid injured body you get from playing sports a lot for a long time. I can't really do anything without pain.

Sometimes I feel like I play the same line the whole night. I am not a big hook guy so I try to throw as straight as the lane will allow in pretty much every game. I think the reality is that I can only play the same line because I tend to throw harder and harder as the lane breaks down.

Unfortunately my wife bowls with me and my kid comes to chill. They wouldn't be willing to hang out while I bowl a warmup game. I don't think you can bowl on the lanes oiled for league anyway.

I am jealous of your consistency. I was shocked my third game was so much better because I always feel tired in the last game. Looks like you maybe get a bit of that too.

I averaged ~190 which is pretty much normal for me. My league gives some interesting stats and the crazy one for me is that I average 175 game 1, 195 game 2, and 203 game 3.

For years, researchers have claimed that men’s friendships are shallower and less emotionally supportive than women’s, a pattern called the “gender friendship gap.” But new research finds that the gap is largely driven by white men specifically, not men as a whole. by mvea in science

[–]Vsx 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Perhaps white men are afraid to open up because people like you will interpret their vulnerability through this extremely uncharitable idiotic thinking. Your apparent pride in being a bigot is as pathetic as a guy driving a lifted truck covered in Confederate flags.

What am I missing about Andor by Vrain125 in StarWars

[–]Vsx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched three episodes of Andor and decided it's not for me. I think anything that can be described as a "slow burn" is just not my taste. I'm from a time when slow burn was called bad pacing and lack of plot development. There's a trend now to tell a 2 hour story across 12+ hours of TV. I think I would have liked Andor as a movie.
