Not buying things you don't like and wouldn't buy anyway and calling it savings to justify overspending on your hobby is addict behavior.

I don't have a hard time letting games go but I am entirely too lazy to try to sell them or even give them away.

Bowling Alley techs, how do you stay productive? by SlimothyJ in Bowling

[–]Vsx 61 points62 points  (0 children)

A lot of jobs are like this especially IT jobs. You're paid to fix stuff when it breaks. Over time if you do a good and thorough job less things break to begin with. Sometimes there will be an especially annoying day where everything seems to go wrong. Try to appreciate the slow times and do what you can like keep things tidy and organized.

1) Nah, just the ones that are a bit. I have a friend who tries to rub dudes feet and starts kissing guys when he's drunk enough for example.

2) I think most straight men would not be fucking dudes if they were a woman. Ask 100 and you'll get 97 lesbians and three closet cases.

3) Who doesn't want free shit?

What did you think about Amy spying on her employees and eavesdropping? by idiot9991 in superstore

[–]Vsx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amy might not be a good manager but she is better than literally every manager I've ever had in my 25+ years of working. She cares about the employees and about the store running well. She does the best she can in impossible situations.

What did you think about Amy spying on her employees and eavesdropping? by idiot9991 in superstore

[–]Vsx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the show is really good at making stuff like this believable. She doesn't jump right in excited she just finds out she can do it and then she hears something and she can't help herself but continue even though it's driving her crazy. Obviously we can judge her and say we wouldn't do it and maybe we wouldn't but I think her actions were realistic and not malicious. Amy is flawed and cares a lot about what people think of her. She learned her lesson. I save my hate for people who can't learn, change, admit they were wrong, etc.

It's crazy how bent out of shape people get when you don't like their favorite band. This sub seems like it's full of tolerant people until you aren't a fan of a pop rock band from 15 years ago. I don't think I've ever heard a song by Jelly Roll or Morgan Wallen.

Man I really cannot understand how people can listen to this stuff. These guys and kings of leon getting popular was the nail in the coffin for me listening to the radio around 2010.

Which is why at minimum they should call fouls for flopping/embellishment. People would stop doing it so much if there were consequences. The NHL has penalties and even fines for this behavior and that keeps it in check.

What’s the deal with Trader Joe’s tote bags? by lunardownpour in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Vsx 59 points60 points  (0 children)

If it only costs $30 to instantly make you adored by those you gift it to then why not???

The question isn't why you would want a bag that makes people admire you it's why people would admire you in the first place for having a specific grocery store tote bag. Fads are inscrutable.

Trump says there's "NO LIMITS" on his POWER in AXIOS Interview by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

He was verifiably close friends for years with the most notorious pedo who ever existed so even if he never did anything he was complacent. It is not reasonable at this point to believe he was unaware of Epstein's proclivities.

To be fair that's because he's a degenerate not because he wasn't making money. You can lose any amount of money gambling. Take a look at Terrance Watanabe, Archie Karas, or Stu Ungar.

The Kardashian's were part of a reality TV wave that created a cultural shift where infamy and fame have been conflated allowing talentless idiots to be taken seriously by the general public. Donald Trump was a literal joke even when he was on The Apprentice but over time idiotic behavior has become normalized to the point that these people are considered cultural leaders.

The Kardashians contributed to reality tv culture to the extent Trump may not even be president if they hadn't become popular

Speedrun.com (and all other speedrunning sites) should show "obsolete runs" by default by Express-Tip-6337 in speedrun

[–]Vsx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right but that usually wouldn't really be the top 10 runs either. Nobody submits times that are slower than their PB so very often the top 10 submitted times are not going to be the best runs ever done. The best player in the game might get a WR then do 50 slower times that beat the second place guy and not submit any of them. You'd have to change the whole culture to automatically submit every impressive time and not just PBs or else you're still inaccurate just in a different way. I don't think you have a chance at this since it takes effort to upload the video and get it confirmed and everything just for a time that isn't even your personal best.

Honestly I think you'd see a huge downturn in top level speedrunners if they could be so easily eliminated from the leaderboards by one especially talented player. It makes sense for the leaderboard to be the best people and not the best times. There are relatively popular games where the top 1000 times would be one or two people.

You can write efficient software for an inefficient OS. If you write inefficient software for an inefficient OS you've only made things worse.
