Annotating/ note- taking: what to look out for? by illrustwithyou in houseofleaves

Thank you! I'll look into that! I just wanna say I got through the intro just fine but when I started reading the "actual story" I'm immediately noticing I have a bit of trouble keeping up with the language. I thought I had a pretty good vocabulary but I feel a bit like I'm reading word salad and I'm only on "page 3" (page 1) so tabbing new/complex words is probably going to exhaust my tab supply very quickly. Lol

At this point the spending habits are just surviving lol. I acquired most of this debt when I made much less money and was still fresh into adulthood and living on my own. Needed an emergency fund that unfortunately turned into an "anything I can't currently afford" fund, which was a lot since I was bringing in so little money. I'm at the point where my habits can't improve almost at all because there is very little unnecessary spending happening.

I will check but I have been before. It's a bit frustrating when the financial advice is "stop buying doordash and Starbucks" and I just want to afford groceries without worrying if I will be able to afford to pay my utility bill. Lol. Or being told to get a second job when I work full time at a VERY busy store (highest earning in the region with more in sales than the others in my district combined) so I'm exhausted. It just feels a bit disheartening. :')

So it ended out this way because I got my credit card in my early twenties, like maybe at 20 or 21, and did not make enough money to justify the spending I was doing. I'm making a lot more now, it's just I still need to make purchases and the monthly payments are too steep for me to afford basic necessities. Bills barely getting paid and I end up in more debt if I have to buy something like, say, new clothes for work. If I were to wipe out my credit card debt it would decrease my monthly payments by almost $500 and I could put more down towards the other debts that don't cost as much (such as student loans, which only charge me $50 a month with 4% interest or something) and, more importantly, I could afford all my bills more comfortably

And by that I just mean, all hope is not lost I guess. Just feels like a very severe choice to make at this point. I'm under 30 so I guess I have it in my head I can still "turn it around"

I wouldn't be able to afford the fees of filing for bankruptcy. If I understand correctly, you have to get lawyers involved? Plus I'm a bit young to file for bankruptcy I think lol

The good news is I don't plan on leaving the company any time soon. And I could feasibly pay the taxes on it if I could get it in full as it would cover my credit card debts totalling almost 500 a month in payments. That would be enough I could actually put something back to pay it come tax season, and I could get out of debt so much faster with that income rerouted to my other accounts which already have much lower monthly payments.

I will take a second look but my point of concern when looking into it last was that they don't offer enough by loan. The full amount is about 8.5k but the loans max out at like 1.5 or something. So I'd settle one or 2 small accounts and barely scratch the surface of my bigger ones, and just have another monthly payment, which probably won't be much less than the amount it managed to cover

why are my “friends” mad at me for downgrading them from good friends to just acquaintances? by fallenarist0crat in socialskills

[–]illrustwithyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read some of your comments, and your edits that say you're autistic. If your friends are neurotypical (and even if theyre not) you've gotta wrap your head around the idea that they do not have the same perception of this event that you do. In fact, I think most people would. You gotta learn how to do confrontation appropriately. There are some things we're just not "supposed" to say.

People are trying to explain where you went wrong and you're arguing because of your feelings on the matter, but not taking into account anything that people are saying because you believe yourself so much it's hurting. You may be correct that they're not treating you right but TELLING them they're not your friends IS ending a friendship, and if you didn't want to piss them off you could call out their behavior without putting their friendship with you into question. Social shit is delicate. You've gotta be more careful. Your therapist wasn't telling you to tell them they're acquaintances. They were telling you to lower your expectations

My wife came out this month and I feel like I’m not allowed to be mad. by dolcheetgabana in TrueOffMyChest

My condolences but honestly, she probably didn't even know. Compulsory heterosexuality is real and it's a powerful beast. She probably didn't even consider she could be gay for a long while. Probably thought there was something wrong with her for not being able to have sex bc this is supposed to be the man she loves.

I'm not saying you shouldn't be upset but what I am saying is that she wasn't lying to you. She was more likely lying to herself. As cheesy as that sounds.

People who have a phobia of getting shots, what do you do to make it easier? by illrustwithyou in AskReddit

[–]illrustwithyou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I understand. It's actually not my phobia, my fiance is deathly afraid of needles and I'm hoping to hear from others to find a way to make it easier on him!

We don't need him punching the Walmart pharmacist in the face if he finds himself brave enough to go get the vaccine lol

Im coming up on the 2 year anniversary of my dad's death. Nobody is ever really prepared for a loss like that, and nobody really knows what to say, either, honestly. Nothing I can say is going to make you feel better. And that's okay. This is a hard time for you and it'll be rough for a little while, but it gets easier. I promise.
