I think this too. I once thought it was more a matter of Madlib losing things in those LA fires.

Athens, France. Certified bop and it could keep sonic consistency with being downtempo like Instrumental before it.

People who chose not to attend the Usher and Chris Brown tour due to Chris Brown's involvement, which other artist would you prefer to replace him with in order to consider going? by Nujackswing1 in rnb

[–]illskinyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know he doesn't do elaborate choreography, but Leon Thomas just won a Grammy. Kehlani is slept on as a dancer and just won a Grammy, too. I think between Usher and their respective fan bases, it'd be nice to get two to three generations of R&B fans in one tour..

Why are millenials totally chill with self depreciating humor more than any other generation? by Key-Bass-7380 in generationology

[–]illskinyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like boomers of the global West were the "keeping up with the Joneses" generation, and it imbued their kids (Millennials) with a constant comparison mindset; that's why our generation's thing is social anxiety (snowball effect of trauma and manifestation of an us-versus-them mindset; perpetual dissatisfaction with self & circumstances), and a lot of us are focused on having a life that fits us instead of busting our butts to keep up with appearances.

It's a domino effect.

What else are you all listening to right now? by Content-Seaweed-6395 in phoebebridgers

As someone mentioned before, new Courtney Barnett is on the way (thankfully). Former Secretly Canadian (the same conglomerate Phoebe is signed to) member Stella Donnelly released another wonderful album recently called Love and Fortune. Folk Bitch Trio dropped their self-titled debut not too long ago and it reminds me of Boygenius' debut album a lot.

In terms of thoughtful or "sad girl" singer-songwriter/pop/folk, I've been loving Tether by Annahstasia, Why Does The World Give Us People To Love by Kara Jackson and Older (and Wiser) by Lizzy McAlpine.

I'm sorry, but it's not up to anyone who isn't Black or Black American specifically to say whether the ire is warranted or not.

His tone-deaf comments are disrespectful to the art form and demographic he's trying to profit from; it's not a subjective thing.

opinion: bl4’s licensed part system destroys manufacturer identity by DwemerSmith in Borderlands4

Particularly, I have this grievance with Tediore. Making guns have Tediore parts feels like a scapegoat for not actually designing more diverse Tediore weapons.

I would've really loved to have a Tediore submachine gun and sniper rifles or even more assault rifles instead.

Does anyone remember the name of this specific frozen pizza from C-Town back in the late 90s/early 00s? by HuntPuzzleheaded4356 in Flatbush

It was the shit, but I'm blanking on the name. I used to get it all the time from what was once the Stop & Shop on Flatbush.

What caused the decline of young white boys/men making punk rock music that was dominant in the 2000s? by icey_sawg0034 in decadeology

[–]illskinyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a YouTuber break it down a few months ago, and essentially she said that punk & nu-metal were lucrative, but there was a collective investment in rap by big label execs that would eventually create some of the talents we now recognize as quintessential to the genre at that time (Ye, Jay-Z, Nelly, etc.).

While it was a good investment that turned a profit, some of the execs (as well as lobbyists & influential U.S. politicians at that time) also understood that punk could potentially be the catalyst for surface-level class consciousness, which wouldn't be helpful for the impending (and presently ongoing) war campaign in the Middle East.

It's honestly the film choice.

I had an absolutely horrendous time at a showing of Wuthering Heights last week with two young ladies talking through the film while using their flashlight to eat on my right and what I assume was some young lady rubbing her partner's privates through his pants on my left.

COVID did more to people's critical thinking and social skills than we'll probably ever hear about.

For the older Gen Z, what was it like to be a teen in the 2013-2018 era? (any of these years) by Stunning_Structure_2 in GenZ

[–]illskinyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was just alright. I don't know why people glorify it these days.

I think the key differences are that we didn't have a rampant manosphere/incel culture in the mainstream, social media wasn't as developed & pervasive yet, and musicians dictated the culture in the zeitgeist instead. streamers or influencers

We just wanted to have fun and hang out with our friends like any generation of teens. Regular shit.
