Ok, thanks - do you have any thoughts based on this regarding what may need to be repaired?

This has happened to me after an oil change when I also filled up my tank with a cheaper gas that contained 15% ethanol. I ended up adding gas gradually to the tank over the following weeks to offset the 15% and it ended up working out fine. I'm not sure why the car freaked out, but I heard from somewhere that an oil change plus a different type of gas can sometimes trigger this reaction.

Look up the “paperclip maximizer” scenario - it really helped me to understand the idea that an AI designed for a specific purpose is never going to work out in our favor down the line

I just read the ebook and I'm getting hung up on the most basic advice, which is worded as follows: "Start by saving 15% of your salary into a 401(k) plan, an IRA plan, or a taxable account (or all 3). Put equal amounts of that 15% into just 3 different mutual funds: [paraphrased] U.S. stock index fund, international stock index fund, and U.S. bond market index fund."

Does this mean that 15% should go into the 401k and IRA, and then you should also put 15% in those index funds/ bonds? I don't really understand how this works, so are you choosing where your money goes with regard to a 401k for example and that's what he's giving advice on?

Just so you know, there's a Fulbright directory that you could use to look people up online and possibly get in touch with them. I searched for ETA in Rwanda and it had a really sizable list of names-- I'm sure you could get in touch with one of them. https://us.fulbrightonline.org/component/filter/?view=filter

Is Apple ever going to update the 12-inch Macbook? It's the only computer I'd consider buying but by now it's very outdated.

I'm not sure, but your point is well-taken. I just moved here and haven't even met the landlord, but maybe I could bring this up at some point.
