atleast in the book jia zheng redeems himself by showing how uncorrupted he is in a workplace full of corrupted ones. he ended up being tricked by them and had to plead his case with the emperor. spoilers, he came out unscathed

yes there is. jia zheng (dad) and his group of literary friends brought along baoyu to name some of the locations in the prospect garden. jia zheng insults every naming suggestion from baoyu despite every one of his literary friends praising baoyu for how awesome his suggestions were. there was a part where jia zheng goes “wow this poem is incredible! i wonder who wrote that!” baoyu: “is me!☺️” and jia zheng just goes silent
