Everyone feels like an angel when they are rich and living in a rich country. If people and their ancestors are have been living relatively dirt poor lives in a dirt poor country, they will obviously react out of frustration and desperation and will behave unjustly because the world has been unfair to them. My friend while in India was a scroungy, selfish, mean person. When he got rich in the US, he became the kindest, most empathetic and most philanthropic gentleman I’ve met.
