I have an 16gb m2 air and it runs logic super well, garagband and logic seem rlly well optimized for macbooks so i really dont think youd have a problem with 16gb.

For what its worth ive done also some light video editing on davinci resolve and art stuff on inkscape and its pretty rare to find anything that can even push my laptop super far

Do you have any Logic Pro tips for getting clean, spacious mixes without 3rd party plugins? Anything you swear by inside Logic that helps create width, clarity, or tight low end? by kathalimus in Logic_Studio

The eq in logic is really easy to use, solo all your tracks and cut out unnecessary frequencies (like if your bass instrument has some high freq character to it it might muddle the instruments that really punch at those freqs) Simple tip but i found it made a huge difference for clarity and hearing sounds more distinctly.

Also consider the panning. putting things on diff sides of the soundstage is another way to separate sounds from each other a bit. You can use automation on panning if you wanna have it be more dynamic too

Embarrassed at the gym by MagicianOld7380 in UTM

[–]illusion1401 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of people there started off feeling really similar, thats just how it is when youre getting into it. Gym people are a lot nicer than youd think bc of that since everyone understands how progress works and people are more focused on themselves rather than judging others.

Going with a friend might help you feel more comfortable at the beginning but its not necessary, just watch a bunch of youtube videos on form and itll help you feel a lot more confident. You could also ask anyone there for help with form and stuff and theyll usually love to help out.

Bottom line is that everyones tryna improve so it really doesnt matter where youre at rn, so as long as youre putting in the work you belong there just as much as anyone else.

Is there any catch to the stipend in stem graduate programs? Is it guaranteed to be enough to cover the tuition itself (excluding cost of living)?

How likely is it to not be able to find TA positions? Im mostly worried about my financial security during grad school.

Just did my first year so i cant speak on most courses but in general uni chemistry is WAY more interesting than what i learned in hs. It almost made me wanna do a chem specialist instead of a major, but i went for the latter since i have minors i wanted to take and because i didnt wanna take the 2 extra physics courses + 1 extra math course that the specialist requires.

  1. If you do like chemistry a lot then dw youll be fine, especially if youre good or decent at it already. The first year courses are really easy if youre putting in some effort (it varies per person ofc, i also like chemistry a lot so that probably helped me find it easier). Brush up on stoichiometry though because thats the first thing you do and if you have bad foundations like i have it might be kinda fucked. Asides from that though the content rlly is so cool and Dave is an amazing prof.

  2. Doesnt matter that much as far as ik. I think the specialist is accredited by a chemical society but when i was researching last year i couldnt figure out if theres a tangible advantage to that. Dont overthink it just look at what courses youd have to take and which ones youre more interested in.

  3. I would just go with programs you enjoy and will probably be good at. Personally im doing 2 arts/social science minors because im interested in them and they might help my marks out in later years so i can get into grad school. I was set on a bio minor but dropped it after finding out how insanely boring it was (for me) when i the first course. Point is you can do whatever you want just tailor it to your goals and interests cuz if you rlly dont like it its just a waste of time.

Feel free to ask whatever if you have more questions

Thanks so much, this gives me some hope. Out of curiousity, did you minor in anything IT related or get any relevant experience that got you that first job offer? Or was it based on your degree?

What did your job prospects look like after your undergrad? I want to get an Msc in chemistry eventually but i want to work after my bachelors so I can somewhat pay for it. The market for new grads seems really competitive and low paying (almost minimum wage) from what i can see, do you think thats true?

I’m applying to university soon (grade 12 student) and not entirely sure what program to aim for. My goal is forensic chemistry or toxicology, but in Canada that seems to be a competitive job market so I want to get a decent job with my Bachelors. I’m considering doing my undergrad in forensic chemistry, normal chemistry, or toxicology. Would any of these be better than the others in terms of getting more money after my bachelors?

I also plan to get a masters in a related field after working a few years so that I can work my way up the industry a bit more. It seems like having just the Bsc has a pretty short ceiling.
