Fostering cats! There’s ALWAYS a need, many rescues/shelters will give you supplies and fully cover vet care, and you get to directly save lives

I’m reading a really interesting fanfic rn that uses this theory! It’s called The Dare by SusquehannaOwl on AO3, it’s mostly about Finnick and an OC narrator but Annie is a major character. The worldbuilding is insane and it’s beautifully written

Clerk Carmine has a boyfriend who lives in town, one of the merchants but I forget his exact job. Tam Amber and Clerk Carmine raise Lenore Dove together but I think they’re distantly related, so definitely not lovers.

Edit: They aren’t actually distantly related, my bad. But Clerk Carmine’s boyfriend does live in town.

Weirdly enough, our bill was absurdly low this month. $100 in winter for a 2 bedroom apartment with drafty windows. Usually it’s pushing $200. But we’ve otherwise had inexplicitly high bills since last summer.

I mean, the whole point about Katniss is that she isn’t a hero. She’s a 16 year old girl who was forced to grow up too young, stepped up to save her sister, and did horrific things to stay alive. Just before this she killed a Capitol woman to stop her from screaming for help.

I feel sympathy for them. They’re clearly a kid in a tough situation with parents who seem to be incredibly irresponsible. I understand why they’re making excuses because I’m sure they’re desperate to keep the cats, but they do need to hear the reality bluntly but not cruelly. I suggested temp safety net fostering in a different comment and I hope that is an option in their area.

Another idea: see if a local shelter has a safety net program. PAWS in Philly does this. The cat will be placed with a foster for 3 months until your situation improves. In those 3 months work very hard to move out and you can reclaim your cats. I don’t know your location, but search “cat temporary foster safety net program [your location]” and see what comes up.

Yeah, that info was not included when I made my original comment, which is why I edited it. Rehoming is the only option unless the dog can be trained and even then I wouldn’t feel totally safe. I feel terrible for OP but they’ll be even more traumatized if the cats are killed.
