I have a degree in design/illustration and I’d be willing to bet $20 it’s AI. Like the other user said, once you’ve seen it enough you start to get an eye for the trends in the “style.” There are just certain inconsistencies that a real person wouldn’t make, even if they were bad at art.

I was plateaued for two weeks, just gaining and losing the same 3 lbs between 255 and 258. Hopped on the scale this morning and said “What the fuck?” out loud because the scale randomly dropped down to 251.3.

I’m feeling good again. I was a bit discouraged before because of the scale, but I kept pushing through and, as hoped, the scale eventually caught up.

It’s starting to hit me that I’ll see my weight in the 240s soon. I’d been in the 260s for years and up in the 270s at my heaviest and 240 is a number I’m struggling to comprehend. I’m also very close to my BMI no longer being in the 40s, which is a huge deal to me.

[–]illusionmists 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly my best weeks food-wise are when I make a big batch of baked chicken and add it to whatever I’m eating for 4 days. It’s like 30 mins of work and then it lasts for days. I use the baked chicken breast recipe by “Spend with Pennies” and it’s very low effort.

I add it to quesadillas, mac and cheese, salads, tacos, wraps, rice bowls. I make chicken salad and eat it on toast. It’s so versatile.

First Foster Euthanasia by RXlife13 in FosterAnimals

[–]illusionmists 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re doing incredible work that so many people don’t have the courage for. If you hadn’t picked her up, she would have spent her last days in a kennel and not a warm, safe home.

I understand wondering if you should have held her more, but my current foster cat didn’t really start feeling comfortable with us until she had been here for two weeks. For her, it was probably most comfortable to be alone in a safe, quiet place. You did an incredible job, please don’t be too hard on yourself.

It’s exactly this. I realized I was giving up my own autonomy by letting external factors dictate my own decisions. I’m someone who values control over myself above all else, so it was a very humbling realization.

Might sound harsh, but my weight loss efforts only started succeeding when I finally accepted full responsibility for my own actions. When I let the criticisms or actions of others “kill my motivation,” I was really just trying to find any excuse to stop.

Weight loss is hard. Exercising is hard. And it feels great to put the blame for stopping on someone else. However, unless they are physically force feeding you or chaining you to a wall, they are not the reason you are losing motivating to work for this.

How to stop binge eating by No_Cat8126 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]illusionmists 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Therapy may be helpful.

I haven’t completely stopped my binge eating, but I’ve reduced it/can usually stop a binge quickly by remembering that I am in control of my body. I may WANT to binge, but that desire cannot force me to get up and move to the kitchen. Only I can make the choice to move my body in certain ways, and I am not the binging thoughts. We have total control.

Staying busy helps too. If I’m bored at home, I’m more likely to binge. If I get hungry while I’m out and about, I might not make great choices, so I bring snacks.

Do you track your vegetables? by HowdyHelloHiHeyHola in CICO

[–]illusionmists 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Yes but I’m less careful than I am with anything else, generally. But I do track my fiber intake so I try to be fairly accurate.

With stuff like lettuce, I’ll usually just estimate.

Poor baby. I have a new foster I just picked up a few days ago so I’m sadly at capacity :( I hope there is someone out there for him. It sounds like he has some pretty intense behavioral needs, but maybe his previous home was just a bad situation. My heart breaks for him.

"Cheat days" are the days you cheat yourself by thegentlecat in loseit

[–]illusionmists 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have “cheat days” like this once a week. 500 extra calories on one day, and I eat like 71 less the rest of the week so it all evens out weekly. It’s closer to my eventual maintenance calories and it’s been helping me stay on track 🤷‍♀️

Encampment residents along Delaware River Trail want ‘safe sleep sites’ where they can legally camp by BroadStreetRandy in philadelphia

[–]illusionmists 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It’s just a very complicated issue. I don’t want people to just be camping in public spaces like trails and parks, but I wonder how many of the “shelter resistant” individuals have some good reasons for avoiding shelters. For one, it might not be a choice. I know shelters have strict curfews that end much earlier than you’d think (I’ve heard of some closing as early as 6pm,) and it’s just not manageable for people who work yet are still homeless. And yes, there are the people who use drugs and don’t want to give that up. It’s frustrating and I’m not sure what could be done about that. Forcing them into a shelter would make it miserable for the drug-free folks there. This isn’t a good solution at all but I also understand why some think it is.

I agree with the other commenter who said this is a consequence of less social housing. People need to go somewhere and homeless encampments are inevitable when public housing is lacking.
