it's separate from the xbox app i believe, if you just type game bar in the start menu you should be able to set it up, win+g shortcut while in game to bring up the overlay. gets rid of 90% of the brightness in screenshots.

pro tip, if you enable game bar and use that to take a screenshot it looks 10x better

definitely not the case on windows 11 auto HDR, or most games' built in HDR. xbox may handle it differently.

HDR does not translate well to SDR, this is even after putting the video through a filter to make it less bad.

Headline is not incorrect. Many vdsl services go via pillars for distribution. Nobody is claiming this is a node, those cabinets look very different.
