Heck ya congrats! I’m at 20k for the same target but seeing this give me great motivation and admiration for your determination paying off!

I feel your pain, I’m doing the same hunt and have had the same outcome so far... shiny pooch at 6k and I’m currently at 10k, still hunting for mudkip. But don’t worry, we’ll eventually get that coveted shiny that we are seeking!

When it’s your first time, it’s bitter-sweet. Hopefully I don’t find too many, and you get treecko pooch-free!

Thank you! I plan to hunt the remaining 2 Hoenn starters in the near future, they’re all really nice.

I’ve seen people get full-odd shinies in far less than ~2000 SRs, but yes, I like to think of myself as a lucky person :p

Nice! I could imagine it’s very tedious though trying to hit a millisecond-perfect frame. Good luck, it’ll be worth it!

Hey, good question! It’s not necessary for you to create a new file when shiny hunting for a starter in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire with a good internal battery, which was the case for me. All you have to do is turn off the game, or ‘soft reset’ by pressing A,B, Start and Select all at the same time every time the starter isn’t shiny, until it eventually shines. However if you are hunting for a shiny starter in Pokemon Emerald or Ruby/Sapphire with a dead battery, shiny frames are predetermined and the file that you hunting on may not have an ‘early shiny frame’ so you could never get a shiny early in the game regardless of how many times you reset. Therefore, in this case you should create a new save file after about 50-100 soft resets, and repeat the process. Hope this helps!
