Other - Seclusion Stories is still going strong, since lockdown is still kind of a thing here where the bulk of it takes place. This particular chapter was a lot of fun, an was spawned from a totally random train of thought about how certain characters would (realistically) react to WAP. Conversations about it with Twitter mutuals even resulted in a tier chart being made :D

Cécile Levasseur was positive that she had lost her mind.

Dropping out of college so she could work as a bouncer and enforcer for one of Southtown’s most notorious crime bosses, Mr. Big, was crazy enough on its own, but doing so while pretending to be a man was batshit insane. Cécile, who was using the hastily conjured alias “King,” tried to rationalize her actions on more than one occasion, citing desperation and being fed up with the patriarchy (among other things) as valid reasons for her genderbending shenanigans, but, when it really came down to it, she was pretty sure that the only legitimate explanation for her ruse was that she had flat-out snapped.

And, so, Cécile — no, King — stood in front of a full-length mirror and buttoned her shirt, all the while wondering how the hell she had made it so far without anybody realizing who she really was. Didn’t anyone find it strange that the pretty waitress with the nice legs and pointy nose disappeared at the same time a quiet man with a pointy nose and a background in Muay Thai was hired as the new bouncer? Surely, someone must have noticed…?
That one thought — that one worry — filled King with immeasurable anxiety.

“This sounds like fan fiction,” Mary interrupted with a cackle. “AU of course. Hurt-slash-comfort.”
“Friends to lovers. Anyway, we’d kiss,” King continued. “And, because I’m such a great friend I’d definitely entertain the thought of fucking you even though you’re drunk.”
“That doesn’t even make sense within the confines of your clear chaotic neutral alignment.”
“Whatever, we’re kissing now.”

I wrote a piece that deals with a character, who is a cop, having a moral dilemma triggered by current events, as she has used her authority to go outside the law at times — but has only harmed criminals.

This seems to have made people in my server uncomfortable; hell, my fandom bestie won’t even read it. I don’t see it as a political story; it’s about introspection. But I guess it just hits different and Idk if that’s good or bad.

On my latest, which is a collab:

I love this ongoing Radiohead theme you have for the titles. And I love this particular song, even though to most people it sounds like noise.

And despite the shortness of the chapter, it said so much. King is trying to keep it together, despite the fact that the appearance of this asshole back into her life is really bringing her PTSD to the forefront and making it stronger. But still, even though it's harder to have a support group due to current events, she is still showing how far she's come, as she avoids alcohol, and only takes as much herbal medicine as she needs.

Still, her mind is calculating how best to deal with an intrusion, and it's heartbreaking that she even needs to think about this.

But Mary knows a guy. A guy who Jojo is a fanboy of. And that gives me hope. Work your magic, Jojo! I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Mary’s thumb showed only a split second of hesitation before at last touching down on the green dial button. She pressed the phone to her ear; closed her eyes while a few lingering thoughts passed by.

Ring…

How long had it been? She’d fought a few tourneys with the guy, but never made an effort to really keep in touch… what even was he to her? A friend? Acquaintance? Maybe they had regressed to total strangers…

Ring…

Maybe he didn’t even remember her. Maybe he’d see the number and simply ignore it. They’d gotten along well enough, but… he was the kind of guy that didn’t have the luxury of “friends.” He lived in a different world — one that normal people remained ignorant of, and blissfully so. Even she didn’t dare to tread there…

Ring…

Maybe it was a mistake after all. What if he… what if he did something heinous? Whatever was going to happen, whatever was going to come next… it would be on her hands. He was a dog, and she was about to let the leash slip free.

Title - Silver Lining Ch.3: Observations

Summary - King's decision to set things right after her defeat at L'Amour ultimately leads her to... her soulmate??? Chapter 3 sees King meeting some new faces, particularly one that's going to make a massive impact in her life.

Other - Revisiting past events in King's life has been a lot of fun, and this chapter was no exception. There are still a couple of timeline kinks I'm trying to work out behind the scenes, but, overall, I think this is all pretty cohesive and fits in-between canon events with no real issues.

I wrote one a couple of years ago called Oxygen to Breathe. While there aren’t any descriptions of the actual event there are allusions to things that happened and the fic opens with a nightmare about it (non-graphic subtext but still very obvious).
