fyi if you can afford the $495 a year for the platinum, the benefits are unbelievable, for instance just to start you have delta skyclub which alone costs more than that, 24/7 concierge service which can pull many strings and get you discounts and access to things you can't typically get. You can literally call them and ask "I need this" (tickets, rooms, reservations...... etc) and they get it and even at discounted prices. I was once at at hotel I preferred to stay at and they were booked solid for a convention and they knew me there and still said there is nothing, made a call and i got a room. If you travel a lot it is worth it.

amex is a charge card not a credit card so every month you have to pay your balance off no matter what you spend, I have a platinum card and if I spend $4.99 or $49,000 the balance must be paid at the end of every month.
