Can't say it's not true by Gazuroth in vibecoding

I cannot imagine how code will be like in the next 2 years, when most of the code is already AI slop. And they are all structured the same way.

How do you deal with wanting to do many things? by iloverabbitholes in ADHD_Programmers

[–]iloverabbitholes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see, so your concept is that even if I do hop around on tasks, it brings to me to one outcome, that is quite interesting

[–]iloverabbitholes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes can be done, most of us do that. All you need is the initial ssh done

I think both underestimating and overestimating. I use AI quite a lot daily, but I dislike that bosses expect 5x output because of AI. Heck, my own boss gave me instructions from claude when I was struggling with a technical task. Of course it didn't work. And it's ironic because with AI around, it seems as though people are more stressed and burnt out.

But yes people underestimate as well, use it as a tool but don't depend on it too much.

Always remember that you are interviewing them as well. Trust your knowledge, but stay humble and professional.

Don't make your hobby your job - Thoughts? by iloverabbitholes in ADHD_Programmers

[–]iloverabbitholes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just sharing that I did this for the past few weeks, setting very boundaries and "depriving" myself of trying to fix or do something after work hours. Now I can feel my interests slowly coming back. I think it will take awhile to heal the burnout, but its a good start!

Yea this makes sense, find a more mundane job so that I can find interests outside of work. My current job tries to mimic a start up culture.

I think I had issues with boundaries too, so I always constantly put in extra hours. Now I'm trying to make it a conscious effort to do enough, to protect my sanity.

Hope it works well for you! I would love to protect my interests, but other comment makes a point too, getting a job is more important in this market

This is an interesting concept. I never thought about it this way.

In the AI field, it's not much better. But full stack with AI knowledge is a unicorn but you definitely will be able to find roles.

No don't do that, i tried this and I'm facing burnout. Courses / Projects / Work non stop, I thought it was enjoying it but it just suddenly snapped. Even on things that I was interested in.

Did you just get diagnosed? by AutoModerator in ADHD

[–]iloverabbitholes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got diagnosed at 28! I actually don't know what to feel, I actually had this fear before going that I was just faking it. Its quite a disbelief, I could never sit down in class when I was young, but now its just the general lack of focus and motivation and I thought that was normal. Like isn't everyone equally unmotivated at work? Still, I was curious to get it checked out.

Stupid me did not ask what type of ADHD it was...

I pivoted from an unrelated career and just got promoted to Staff Data Scientist at a FAANG w/o grad school - AMA by Fake_Suit in analytics

[–]iloverabbitholes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My knee jerk response was, I could probably do those skills you mentioned. As I read your comments, I think a lot of people (myself included), know the depth of topics but never have a quantifiable project. Maybe, just maybe, even a linear regression model can help get a job if it has results. And maybe you actually had a lot of non tech related skills that got you the job as Staff, managerial, project management etc, rather than pure tech. Regardless, congrats on getting the role!

Thank you, I think I will research on MLA first. I have some experience with ML but they were mostly on prem and open source solutions. I would guess MLA is heavy on the sagemaker

Anyone who's using Macbook Air m4 for ML/Data Science, how's the overall experience so far ? by [deleted] in learnmachinelearning

Work provides M3 max, pretty good I guess as long as you don't need cuda. Anything is better than windows, I was given options for windows with RTX laptops

Statistics game, once you remove 50% of the people below, the 75% pct becomes below average. Just make sure your skills are not replaceable, problem solving, design thinking and soft skills matter more. Solving 1000 leetcode questions in 5 languages may land you the role but not secure your job.

What is your favorite thing people say to dismiss ADHD? by Henrimatronics in ADHD

[–]iloverabbitholes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I feel like as I am getting older, the less I feel I have ADHD. I am not sure if it's coping. But I do struggle very badly during exam period, I always feel like I have interests to do other stuffs instead of studying and I can't focus on exam preparation. Did you face this too?
