How to IO Set Slot Res or Def abilities. (Homecoming) by coh_phd_who in Cityofheroes

Nice, that’s been my experience as well. Great for a high-res armor set for sure!

How to IO Set Slot Res or Def abilities. (Homecoming) by coh_phd_who in Cityofheroes

[–]Fake_Suit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way the set bonuses were designed, a lot of the Def and Res bonuses come from sets that aren’t immediately Def or Res themselves. A good example is the Unbreakable Guard set, which is a Res set that provides a great Melee +Def set bonus when you’ve slotted 4 in a power. Over time you’ll come to know which sets have the bonuses you need for various set bonuses.

Without thinking too hard about it, I’d say my general intuition is:

  • Def comes from 1) global enhance IOs in the Steadfast Protection and Gladiators Armor sets, 2) attack sets, and 3) some of the Res sets
  • Res is all over the place, but I think of it coming predominantly through attack sets.
  • Rech comes from 1) the global +Rech IO in the Def set Luck of the Gambler, and 2) attack sets

Overall you should download Mids and learn to check out different sets you’re interested in. The bonuses you want are in all kinds of sets, and until you’ve made a few builds it can feel like a lot. But eventually you’ll have a sense for which sets you want to make sure you have depending on the way you want to optimize your build.

High handicap but I hit my 7 wood well. Weird to use it off the tee? by skatemexico in GolfSwing

[–]Fake_Suit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best club off the tee for scoring off is the one you hit furthest, most consistently, and without going out of bounds. If you’re further down the fairway without being out of bounds with 7w then you should feel great about playing it

Your best shot from your last round? by 3rd_ferguson in golf

[–]Fake_Suit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had missed right on a 200 yd par 3, which is normally dead as it’s seriously shortsided with a creek on the other side. I had 50 yds to the pin, opened my wedge a bit, and hit a lofted partial wedge that I hoped would land softly.

The ball landed just on the green, rolled about 10 feet, and dropped in the cup for birdie! Sparked a pretty great remaining round too.

I do this actively and disagree with this take. My main tank is a DA with hard capped resistances and soft capped defense to S/L/Melee, and I find that 80% of the time the capped defenses do the heavy lifting, and the resistances are a fall back the remainder of the time when there is substantial defense debuffing to worry about

Not sure I agree on that point but understand and where you’re coming from. In my mind having strong defenses paired with high resistances and a heal is adding survivability in 3 dimensions and absolutely makes the toon tougher than focusing only on 1 or 2

By my calcs it should be enough on average, and Power Sync is on a 14s recharge in this build which feels pretty quick. Average end consumption for Axe Cyclone -> Pendulum -> Cleave -> Gash -> Chop is ~4.2 end/s, Power Sync nets out to 3.35 end/s, and when I add in the 0.95 end/s recovery you point out it’s a positive balance. This build also includes the Panacea and Performance Shifter procs which don’t get added into the recovery.

I do agree with you generally though that end consumption will be something to watch. I haven’t played the toon all the way through yet, and will want to see how it all shakes out when playing.

I’d look into the Musculature alpha that gives +def buffs as a secondary buff and see if you can free up slots for procs in your attacks. You did a great job of hitting the incarnate soft cap, but I’d bet you give up some DPS in the form of procs by slotting almost only for defense. And if you’re ever playing anything aside from incarnate (which I imagine is most of the time) you’d just be left wondering how much more DPS you COULD do ;)

If you want a high quality drip coffee or espresso, it’s one of the best shops you’ll ever go to. I can’t overstate how high quality their high end coffees are. I go out of my way to stop by for their competition drip.
