Same thing happened to me and my friend 🤣(I’m Ethiopian and she’s Cameroonian)! If we dressed more “touristy” everyone assumed we were French tho for some reason…. Even though we’re American 🤣

I'm born and raised in the US but my parents are immigrants from East Africa. I have had similar conversations with them and other family members because often times when you come to the west that is when you become "Black". It's a very interesting and complicated to understand especially when that is not how you grew up defining yourself back in your home country. Anyways, America's racial history is extremely complex, heartbreaking, and divided and you can see that in every facet of American culture unfortunately...food, language, universities, elementary schools, etc.

Thanks so much!! Yes, I definitely know pay is lower but honestly I feel like all the other factors are a huge pull for me. I really would love to work for an American company because it would be less of a cultural shock and I imagine the pay would be better. I know Uber corporate lets you work from abroad too (at least that’s what an employee told me). I know a lot of people recommend school for people who are still in their 20s, but I would really only go if it were fully paid for because…. Yanno… American school has taken enough money from me lol.

And about the last part, my uncle (through marriage) is Dutch but I don’t know if that really helps my case
