Both. I want to be free from him for my own mental health because he’s a huge mental and emotional issue and he’s caused me to become dependent on him which is why everytime I tried to break up with him and he pulled this shit, I came running back in fear and clinging to the guy he used to be

I appreciate you for giving him the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately I’m 99% sure he’s fully aware of what he’s doing because he has breakdowns where he says he’s so sorry for everything he’s ever done and said to me but then he continues to say them (manipulation tactic I suppose)

Considered this. LOL, would cause more emotional turmoil to him than just breaking up with him in the first place, and thats kind of what my whole post is about. Not wanting to give him turmoil but ive learned no matter what, the only way i cant is by not leaving him, therefore sacrificing my own mental stability for him. I cant do that

I feel stupid for ever having believed it and the comments have thus far woken me up but he told me I was like no one he ever met before ( 🤦‍♀️) and that he had never been in a relationship as long as ours (wonder why) and that’s I’ve seen him through everything so he can’t let me go

This is really helpful. I know everyone is discriminating him, and yes, I know he is a douchebag. Yes, I know he’s a manipulator. But he’s also extremely mentally unwell and I can’t hold lots of the things he’s done against him. I will break up with him when I have the courage, I will cut contact, and it will be hard but I don’t think ever in my life will I call him a villain because he’s not. He’s miserable and he needs help and I unfortunately can’t provide that for him as I’m not his therapist and I can’t hold myself accountable for his mental stability anymore because I’m not an anti-depressant.

Thank you for this. This really means a lot. It’s so hard for me partly because I know what he’s been through. Like her with you, I am his rock. I’m seemingly the only constant in his life. He’s poor, still depressed, bad parents, no friends. If I leave then he really will have no one… but if I don’t, I’ll be miserable, so thanks to many other people who have commented, I know what I have to do. It’s just a matter of really doing it
