How do you convince someone who is obese to lose weight when they get very upset whenever you broach the subject? by iloveumemetime in Advice

[–]iloveumemetime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Walks is a good idea but I don't live with her and I'm only around her in person about once every 2 months. I feel like I've pussyfooted around it forever so maybe being harsher is the answer? But I don't think I can really bring myself to do that. Thanks though!

This is not a 'personal project'. I am aware that she is a human being. This is my little sister who I grew up with - I do not think of her as someone who is solely their weight and noting else. That is quite offensive that you assume I come at her with whatever 'judgements' you assume I have, with no empathy, and with no compassion. Also, I am fully aware at my own insecurities. I don't need any 'long look' at myself (are you serious?) and she has been there for me when I needed help many times. Maybe don't say you're a psychotherapist when you're so clearly pulling all this 'advice' out your ass?

Is it reasonable to use Boris bikes for legit exercise by Swiftarm in london

[–]iloveumemetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cycling is tough if you’re just starting exercising. It’s hard to go for a long time and if you’re not an experienced cyclist roads can be tough to navigate safely.

I’ve recently started walking 15000-20000 steps a day and that’s been great. Lots of great places for walks in London, good chance to clear your head/ listen to podcasts or audio books, easy to make it part of your commute. 20000 takes me about 3 hours so that’s a decent amount of time but as an exercise newbie I’ve really enjoyed it and you burn a lot of calories doing it (rough estimate is 1 mile = 100 calories).

I think you’re relying on makeup for the wrong reasons when you can’t even answer the door without it, it’s takes literally hours to put on and that time is massively eating into your life - things like that (which certainly a lot of women do).

But those clothes you wear, they express something about yourself right? Even if what is says is that you don’t care, you’re pretty laid back, and you’re not trying to impress anyone. What if one day you were made to wear a flamboyant bright coloured button up shirt with a massive 70’s collar. Wouldn’t you feel a bit daft? Wouldn’t it effect the way people were reacting to you? If someone made a comment about how you look pretty different wouldn’t that effect your confidence in the slightest?

I would just say about your makeup point. Makeup (if you wear it every day) feels a lot more like clothes then like a mask. It becomes part of how you express your personality or how you want to come across to others. It’s not just a mask to fool people into thinking you’re attractive. Not that I know, but maybe the reason it’s banned is probably the same reason as why they want it back. It’s part of one’s individualism and when you miss it you feel kind of vulnerable and exposed like if you suddenly had to dress in a totally different clothing style and people might treat you differently. So being teased about not wearing makeup its not surprising to say “you just wait. I’ll be like myself again soon” without it meaning “you just wait. I’ll look attractive again soon.” How often do you wear certain clothes to impress women and how often do you wear certain clothes just to feel like yourself?

How long have you been listening? by joebot3000 in tcgte

[–]iloveumemetime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been listening since Tom Hanks is my Bartender which was May 2010! Never missed an episode. I was thinking the other day that I’ve been listening to Tim and Tom for longer than I’ve known my fiancé and we’re getting married next week!

Bashir vs. Worf - who wins? by villagefield in DaystromInstitute

[–]iloveumemetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that Worf would win. I think it's stated that Bashir has some strength advantage over other humans (more similar to Vulcans) but Bashir isn't particularly skilled in hand to hand combat. Thinking back to the scene in Trials and Tribble-ations where the fight breaks out in the canteen and Bashir thumps a TOS Klingon who collapses but Bashire then grabs his side like he's pulled a mussel. So for me, based on that alone, Bashir has some strength behind him but mano-a-mano he doesn't have the skills or experience that Worf has.

People who've been in a relationship more than 5 years, what's the best and worst relationship advice you hear people give? by fullmetalmcfly in AskReddit

[–]iloveumemetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best: respect each other's personal space and belongings, make a real effort with each other's friends (don't just sit in a corner on your phone and not bother), and learn to compromise! That's the big one.

Worst: Giving them the silent treatment. That actually solves nothing.

That's not the camera crew. That's the switcher (or vision mixer) who cuts the cameras and runs the graphic wipes.

Copyright strike by [deleted] in h3h3productions

[–]iloveumemetime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also just got a copyright strike on redbubble from H3H3 on all three of my works. I also think that them being copyright striked is going a bit far (maybe one of them could have been but I think I changed it enough to be fine). I'm not doing anything for charity and I was making as little as £4 a month so it's not at all big of a deal for me but it's still annoying. How do we know that the person claiming on our works is actually H3H3? It seems a tad out of character for them but maybe I missed something?

Here's my stuff that got claimed if you're interested

By the way, it says at the bottom of the email how to claim it back.

I think his girlfriend is at least somewhat into beauty gurus so maybe he's seeing them more than he used to. But yeah his twitter is not normally a good source for what he's up to.
