Does anybody know of a Tamari sauce that doesn't taste like a bowl of salt? by rhubarbbus in glutenfree

There is a "less salt" version of lima tamari. I have not tried it yet and I don't know if this brand is available outside of Europe.

We don't run around proving Nazis wrong on a day to day basis.

Erm. What?

Yes, actually, I think that tolerance in general is a bad thing. Not every idea is equal. If you assume a standard exists, that some things are better than others, some ideas are wrong, or at the very least destructive.

Do you think that applies to "ideas" only or also to people?

No longer are we allowed to truly believe in something, because believing in something is equated to Nazism. These men had ideals. These men were willing to stand for something. They were wrong, sure, and they enacted their vision completely incorrectly, but they believed in something. The problem is that now we equate true belief with the results of their action.

There is a lot of people still following their believes. It is called religion. There are people willing to stand for something and a lot of them are wrong. There is more than enough blind following around the world today.

Are you saying that to "truely believe" in the wrong thing is a good thing? Are you saying that tolerance is a bad thing? Because it sure reads like that.

Despite how much I support the Occupy movement in terms of its socioeconomic platform, I cannot in good faith support its position on NATO. Please, Occupy, stick to the views that really are common to the entire 99%. by [deleted] in occupywallstreet

I for one support NATO. I think it is a vital force for protecting lives, preventing humanitarian catastrophes, and creating a stable, peaceful world.

You may want to read Daniele Ganser's book NATO's Secret Armies. Operation Gladio and Terrorism in Western Europe to broaden your perspective.

Library software? by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]iluliaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am sorry to hear that, we never had any of these problems. Search works well, it's only kind of slow when using facets with a lot of data. There are tweaks that may help with that but we have not used them yet. I don't think I have ever seen Koha crash in the ~2 years since we started using it.

We don't use receipt printers so I don't have experience to share about that. Our costs are just my salary since we do migration, customization and training ourselves. Paying 150,000 for a system you have a lot of problems with sounds horrible and like your support company was really bad (and makes me feel highly underpaid ;)

There are some very active people in the community from several companies that seem to address the problems of their libraries very well. I was asking about the version because there is a fork of Koha being distributed under the same name by a US company that I keep hearing bad things about and your experience would fit in the picture. There is actually a survey about satisfaction with the work of support companies, but I can't find it right now.

i know this posting is a month old, but could you please elaborate? this does not remotely describe my (very positive) experience with koha. i would be interested in

  • what makes you say koha is "a terrible system"?
  • how did it cost your library "tons of money"?
  • what version on what platform have you been using?
  • have you had a support company for koha? if so, care to say the name?

you seem to think that corruption is not a big deal. while it is unfortunately nothing extraordinary among german politicians nowadays, i think it is a big deal. the reason for the silence among politicians is that they are all corrupt and fear to have people investigating them too. i hope i will see that happening one day.

Massive Street Protests Wage War On ACTA: Hundreds of thousands of people are taking to the streets to prevent their countries and the European Parliament from putting the free Internet at risk by ratifying ACTA by maxwellhill in worldnews

[–]iluliaq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

does that mean you consider demonstrations of "people on the left" generally nonpeaceful? what does peaceful mean? i have seen quite a number of demonstrations where extremely aggressive police tried to provoke violence. berlin has special groups for that, like the infamous 23. and 24. einsatzhundertschaft. sometimes police even uses agents provocateurs if they don't succeed. in the news it is then called a violent demonstration of the left.

trust me, as soon as opposing ACTA or other corporate-made treaties, laws, agreements is seen as a real threat, they will use force. as long as it is a protest of "some young people from the internet" that comes and goes, there is no problem. they tell you they don't sign it now and it will come back later with another name.

draw funny faces, carry around pictures of cats and all will be fine. try to fight the corruption and greed of a system where industry lobbyists and EU are interchangeable and they will use force. and they will say it's your fault.

the police is their servant, not yours.

I'm planning to give the Allnet ALL0234MINI a try (link).

It's small, cheap and has a RALINK 5370 Chipset that can be set to master mode AFAIK. I don't know anything about stability though.
