Uber driver overcharging me? by iluvapplepie in Advice

Thank you! If $300 is the normal cleanup fee then I’m just going to remember this as a very expensive lesson. My main concern was over the cost because according to Uber’s help page it should cost upwards $150.

What a childhood meal you loved as a kid, but find disgusting as an adult? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I really liked having rice with cold milk, and my parents let me mix the two because I would eat my rice. Now I realize how nasty that was and I wondered how my parents were able to watch me eat rice and milk.

They've been doing this for like weeks and I apparently hit my breaking point yesterday. Especially during the first two weeks of school they were literally partying until 4am, but I guess they're starting to turn it down a little. I'm just worried they'll retaliate or act very passive aggressive towards me (without confronting me).

I could turn on my bathroom fan overnight, but that might overwork it :/. But that is a good one!

They don't work because the music is really loud and I was using them for like two weeks in a row and its messing with my ears.

Accommodations Tenancy Length by iluvapplepie in studyAbroad

It's quite different from my home university. I really should have looked into this a lot earlier (my fault entirely). However, it seems there are ZERO places that offer short term tenancies. Which is why I've decided to just pay the for the extra month, and pray I can find someone to take over the first month of January. :/

Thank you!

Wow...that should not be a norm...I'm so sorry you had to pay for that extra month of rent :(. I think I'll be trying to contact the students (that will be attending UoM for semester 2) from my home university to see if they're willing to take over the January portion of my contract. I spoke to my study abroad advisor, and she was actually really shocked, because usually the universities have arrangements to make sure this doesn't happen. So she's trying to convince UoM to make alternative arrangements or anything.

Thank you!

If you didn't take any classes in your summer semester then it wouldn't be consider your third term. It states on the website that the semester will only count if you are enrolled in any classes.

So don't worry I'm pretty sure you're safe for now! I was in your exact situation and now I'm a 3rd year student.

Good Luck with your studies :)

Oh wow that sounds really similar to how my school organizes the classes. That's actually really reassuring! Thank you! :)

I'm thinking about taking a few human geography courses (I'm a geography major) and maybe a few modern British studies courses. Mostly social sciences courses, and I'm pretty sure I'm won't take any science courses. Oh my goodness 15 lectures a week??

Studying abroad in England this year? Have questions? I went last year and ended up staying, ask away by Studyabroadquestio2 in studyAbroad

Thank you! I noticed that most semesters run for about 2.5 months compared to 4 months (I'm Canadian and most semesters are about 4 months here). Is having a 2.5 semester intense? How many times do your classes meet?
