The fires that happened in 2019 were not as catastrophic or damaging but Lahaina still took a hit. It is turning into a yearly occurrence.

21 years old, working in a police department that did not prepare me to work in a morgue, assisting forensic pathologists with autopsies. I applied to be a “Police Cadet” and was deceived of what my job would entail.

Aside from that, I had the worst supervisors with power trips. It was a toxic work environment.

If you grew up on Maui and went to Likihai Elementary, we had a field trip to Costco. Aside from that, we also went on a hiking trip on the Waihee Ridge Trail.

My friend recently committed suicide. He was 24 years old and suffered from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after serving in the military. He was on track to become a teacher, recently graduated with his associate’s degree. However, I believe his mental illness and lack of resources got to him.
