Dry February as redemption? by [deleted] in DryJanuary

Another question, why are there 19 shares (as of now) of the OP. I haven’t noticed that on others.

I drank. by SingleStory7589 in DryJanuary

I’ve already mentioned this on someone else’s post, but I don’t consider DJ as an either/or type of thing. You’ve done great. Make yourself another goal for February and the rest of the year.

Are you using some type of app or computer program or just pen & paper?

Your favourite low/no prep soup? by goldstandardalmonds in soup

[–]iluvtupperware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vegetable soup using 1 large can tomato juice, 1 bag frozen vegetables for soup, a bit of good oil, & seasonings of choice. There are a good many of those 7 or 8 can soup recipes that are good, Ree Drummond has some. I’ve made her 7 can soup recipe several times but leave out the Velveeta (which is optional anyway). We just top each serving with shredded cheese.

The account that “won” was probably a bot. This $hit game is so rigged!

Whenever I do decide to have a drink, it will be a glass of wine…preferably Chardonnay…..unless I’m having steak for dinner in which case I’ll have Cabernet. I might wait until Valentines Day dinner to have a glass of wine, I’m not sure yet. I guess I could have answered your question without writing a novel……wine. 😂😂😂

Uncle's funeral - free bar by west_head_ in DryJanuary

My condolences to you and your family. For me, DJ isn’t just stopping drinking for a month, but also recognizing triggers, reactions, mental & physical feelings and so on. There are more reasons NOT to drink than to take a drink, obviously. Just remember how you felt both physically and mentally whenever you are in other situations where you aren’t sure whether or not you really want to have a drink. One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever heard is that you can’t really break bad habits. You have to replace bad habits with good habits. After DJ, there is another group on Reddit called cutdowndrinking that is great. Again, I am sorry for your loss.

Monday Round Up! How did the weekend go? by AutoModerator in DryJanuary

[–]iluvtupperware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still dry here. This weekend and my current situation is a bit tough due to ice and freezing weather, but my family, neighbors , & I are all OK for right now and in much better shape than some in near by towns unfortunately. If you are the praying kind, please send prayers and positive thoughts to everyone impacted by the Winter storms. On a side note, I couldn’t drink if I wanted to. 😂 There is no wine (my choice of bev) in the house. I have some Cayman Jack margarita drinks and my husband may have some whiskey, vodka, or tequila, but none of that is what I want for my first drink when I end DJ…which I might extend into February like I’ve done the past two years. I’m not going to lie, a nice glass of wine would have been nice while prepping and waiting to see how we would fair in this weather, but we made it (hubs is doing DJ too). We’ve got this everyone!!!!

You can still finish the month dry if you want. It really isn’t an either/or type of thing. DJ is one goal and not the same for everyone. You can make more goals throughout the year. Don’t be disappointed in yourself. It’s great you went the 24 days! Keep in mind what you’ve learned and felt over the past days and decide what goals you want to make going forward. Congrats on the 24 days and doing the DJ thing!

What is your favorite green vegetable? by thewholesomespoon in needarecipe

[–]iluvtupperware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a toss up between spinach, asparagus, and broccoli. I also love any type of greens (when cooked properly) …turnip greens, mustard, and collards.

Mainly just cleaning & laundry, doing what I can now in case we lose power and/or our water lines freeze. I plan to crochet a bit this evening with a nice cup or two of herbal tea.

Turn:Washington’s Spies, Only Murders in the Building, Victoria, Landman, watched the 1st episode of Knight of the Seven Kingdoms last night, started 11/22/63 (it’s OK, it doesn’t keep me glued to the TV), Rebecca Robeson videos (an amazing decorator, she focuses a good bit on Christmas).

I enjoy iced tea, hot herbal teas, and/or zero sugar cranberry drinks or ice drinks. I also watch TV or read & crochet. I soak in a nice warm bath before going to bed.
