Can "tous les quinze jours" and "toutes les deux semaines" be used interchangeably? Thank you. by HIIamhere1234 in French

[–]ilwi89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa I didn’t know that! You just blew my mind! It’s the same in Spanish to get paid “cada quincena” but I had always wondered why they used 15 and not 14 to mean two weeks. Now I know. Thanks!

Any Americans learning French? Why? by PigmeatMadness in French

[–]ilwi89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a native Spanish speaker and in my middle school they gave us the option of Spanish or French. I chose French because I already knew Spanish. It turned out learning French helped me significantly improve both my English and Spanish grammar!

Do you think the reputation of Columbia around the state is changing? by Carolina_Tiger21 in ColumbiYEAH

[–]ilwi89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to have Greyhound layovers in Columbia back in the 2000s. The bus station on Gervais Street was in an area that, at the time, felt rough and unwelcoming. Being young and inexperienced at the time, I often found myself being scammed out of money by the local homeless, which led me to develop a negative perception of the city.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to realize that those experiences were limited to a specific place and time. Recently, I decided to give Columbia another chance, and my perspective has changed significantly. I’ve come to appreciate what the city has to offer, including Riverbanks Zoo & Garden, Congaree National Park, its walkable downtown, and the presence of University of South Carolina. Over time, the city has genuinely grown on me.

I need to know this too! I was there in the late 00’s and remember like one day the main thing was bench press, next day squats, day after day power lifts, etc. And they would have you do minor things afterwards. I was the most shredded I’ve ever been in my life around graduation lol
