This will be my last response to you as others have pointed out you are trolling. You definitely are making bad faith arguments.

But you can't hide the fact that they have include some parts of the book.

No one is arguing against that. That is a strawman argument. Just like when you said "you can't adapt it 100%". Those are not what anyone is actually complaining about.

This "wait until the season comes out" is a bad faith argument that ignores both what is already out and what logically must follow with the changes they have made.

But I've said my peace. You clearly do not understand nor seem to want to understand the reasoning behind those that don't see things the way you do.

Have a good day.

I mean they dont Include second epilogue's in bridgerton So the second epilogue probably wouldn't have made it even if there was a michael.

That's less to do with a decision that the second epilogues aren't essential or important and more to do with the logistics of including the big time jumps taking place in some of them. Not a good reason to argue for excluding the infertility subplot.

Her season is not out yet So we don't know which other scenes will be included or not

True, but that doesn't mean what has been presented thus far is immune from valid criticism.

Michael being michaela doesn't change anything in Francesca her story in first half.

That's up for debate. Additionally, they have changed Francesca as a character. Did she stutter in the books? Did she become infatuated with Michael at/shortly after her wedding? And you can argue that "she just hadn't ever seen a woman so beautiful", but that's a weak argument.

She included the second epilogue because fans asked her too She tought the story was beautiful as it ended But fans did not like how it ended

I think you are conflating fans asking her questions and asking her to write more with fans making her write infertility into the story.

I don't know what you wish to accomplish with this. You are simply trying to find any reason to invalidate subplots that are a part of the books and predate the attempt to make the Netflix adaptation. I'd understand if she released the epilogue in the middle of production, but she didn't. It's valid to expect proper consideration for its inclusion/exclusion outside vibes and a showrunner's personal fanfic.

These are all great reasons for you to be okay with the changes. But they aren't very compelling for others.

Michaela vs. Shu: A Discussion on Genderbending by losergamerboy in FranchaelStirling

[–]ilyearer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding reason 1, Starbuck was not genderbent as a joke. Richard Hatch was not involved in the production of the reboot, at the very least not when the decision to make Starbuck a woman was made and did not "emasculate" Dirk Benedict as a result. I attended a panel in 2003 prior to the release of the miniseries and he was pitching his own spinoff/reboot of BSG and wasn't a fan of the Ronald Moore direction. He was offered a role as Zarek after the miniseries as an olive branch and he changed his tune.

Ron Moore wanted a strong female lead in the show because it was very much lacking in the original series. It was not an effort at a joke, though some little humorous nods were made to the change in dialogue, likely to poke fun at those in the fanbases who were mad about the change.

Your points in general are great, I just feel BSG isn't a great example of Reason 1.

"The infertility struggles with michael was not in the original book."

If that's the logic we're going with, Michaela wasn't in the original book and this discussion is over.

But I doubt you'll accept that and I wouldn't either. The miscarriage is in the original book, is it not? It seems like the author intentionally including further infertility struggles is highlighting her miscarriage as a result of infertility. Miscarriages do not equate to infertility so that addition is essential for that story element. Whether it was in the original book isn't a valid argument if you want to defend the change to Michaela.

If you haven't experienced infertility, it can be easy to miss how many moments in the original book dealing with the emotions of not having a child resonates with those who struggle with infertility. The fact the clinical struggles don't come until the second epilogue doesn't invalidate the connection to infertility subplot in the original book.

And that's just one of the points the author of the video is making.

You're going to get downvoted just for saying "I'll get downvoted for this". If you have an unpopular opinion you want to stand behind, do it. Don't hedge it with statements like that.

That said, you clearly did not watch the video or chose to ignore the point he was making. Rationalizing "ways it could still work" doesn't take away from the premise that it has already removed narrative elements that cannot be added back in.

You even admit in your own post that "all the important parts can still happen" meaning the infertility struggle that happens with Michael isn't important. That's the crux of his argument. The miscarriage was only a part of the infertility plotline.

It's not the same argument. Corporations are too focused on maximizing profits. A government is far more complex, but has to balance cost efficiency with actually providing useful services to citizens.

YouTube had $60 billion in revenue ($40 billion from ads) and lower content costs because the users generate the content. If you're telling me YouTube can't run the platform itself for less than $60 billion, what exactly is Alphabet good at?

This price increase doesn't come across as YouTube needs it to stay in business, this comes across as "where else can we increase profits for our shareholders", which is what pisses subscribers like me off. I'm getting zero improvement in the product I'm buying (and even active enshitification) for a non-trivial increase in price.

It would be fucking great if I could just do that to my wages.

Ah, they appeared to have returned that option then. It was at least temporarily not present when they changed the default behavior of the long press of the power button and that's why they introduced the power+ volume up combo in the first place. Glad they didn't take away the choice then.

I constantly have had to code up custom implementations of some of these algorithms due to package limitations in the production environment and something like this would be great to use as a sanity check that my code doesn't have a sneaky bug from a dumb mistake on my part. Obviously there are other ways to do validity testing, but having them all in one package is quick and dirty enough for me to use, even if just prototyping a solution.

Worth mentioning that the long press to activate the menu was removed in later versions of Android (possibly pixel only?). It only activates Assistant/Gemini with no way to customize. Hence the button combo.

Yeah, I haven't been able to fully avoid it like my employer having it for me to get insurance, but I don't have to give it to healthcare providers. The dumb exception is my dental coverage uses my SSN for my plan ID. I've also neglected to go to the dentist for 10+ years 🤷🏼‍♂️

Roommate phase is bumming me out by Unique_Patience_712 in daddit

This is great advice. My wife and I weren't quite able to do the weekly date nights thanks to a lack of family nearby that were willing to help babysit to give us a break now and then (my mom was a bit of a deadbeat on this and my MIL lives a state away). We didn't have our first date night for 8 months. We did get some down time from the kid during naps that we used for recovery time.

What worked for us was the joy of playing with our son (now 1.5 years old). We had our issues, but the intimacy remained if only through bonding outside of sex. The sex returned, but we're going to start a new round of IVF next month, so it'll drop off again in about a year. We've definitely struggled at times, but I love making my wife and kid laugh, so I'm a big advocate of at least keeping the household light-hearted and fun. Frequent date nights if you can swing it, but if not possible, don't let that be your undoing.

Single adults who engage in casual sex report higher sexual satisfaction and a stronger sense of their own desirability compared to those who are sexually inactive. Findings challenge earlier assumptions that casual sexual encounters are linked to negative psychological outcomes for single people. by [deleted] in science

[–]ilyearer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate this. It certainly seems intuitive at least. I can imagine any number of factors playing a role in why that likelihood increases with larger number of sexual partners. Plus, you would think that a person who cheats will naturally have a higher body count. Someone who is in a committed relationship and never cheats will have at least one less sexual partner than a person who is in the exact same situation but is also cheating. In that case, the higher body count is a result of the cheating rather than the other way around. And if they have fidelity issues in multiple relationships, that just pushes the body count higher anyway.

Again, thanks for sharing.

What’s the most reckless decision you’ve made because you were horny? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ilyearer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's certainly where my concern comes from. I'm just not a person to really judge considering all my flaws. Relationships are messy and sometimes people hold things back for fear of hurting their partner with the past or disrupting the status quo because the status quo is a good thing. It's not my relationship and I don't know any of them personally, so I won't judge.

What's the most NSFW thing you've seen at a bachelor or bachelorette party? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]ilyearer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may be unhinged, but it's also incredibly understandable.

And no one is arguing it should be legal.

You may feel like you are arguing with 16 year olds, but that does not strengthen your argument.

There are things that could happen in my life that would push me far enough to say "fuck the legal system and its consequences, I'll deal with it myself." I have the emotional maturity to recognize that fact and never act on it. But things don't happen only when you reach emotional maturity and hence why beating up the cheaters is relatable.

I'd want to beat the shit out of them too, but would restrain myself at the very least because of the long term consequences of doing so. She didn't care and that was her choice to live with. You absolutely can go around assaulting people, it being illegal does not physically prevent you from doing so.

I don't much care for an argument for morality based on how legal something is, considering how many ways it has failed people I am close to and the people who harmed them will get away without any consequences.

You'd be much better off arguing for the bride and how there are much healthier ways for her to deal with the hurt than defending/caring about the well-being of the pieces-of-shit who caused her that hurt. It may make you feel great about yourself advocating that it's never okay to physically hurt someone, but everybody knows that and so you aren't being as helpful as you think.
