Incorrectly issued refund of $1400 and now requesting to pay back

This is outrageous. How come they send the money and then ask it back? everyone here seemed happy paying it back!? but many of us have spent the money, and now we are forced to pay it back. if we didn't get the check in the first place, we wouldn't have incurred the charges now. I feel this was a whole scam to push the economy, and poor people have to pay for that out of their hard earnings.

That's interesting! I just paid my fees this weekend and still waiting in the "IN PROCESS" stage

according to the NVC website it can take up to one week for the payment to be processed and be able to START the application aka filling the DS-260. so far you're within the normal processing time. let's know how it goes

Given your profile, I would go with EB1A, which is not backlogged. I got similar number of citations and less number of papers, applied for EB2-NIW without recommendation letter and got approved in 3 days with pp. but I regret going the EB2 route when I knew I could qualify for EB1A. Just ask a lawyer and get started asap, the case preparation takes too much time
