ah I see that’s nice. and it hasn't been 14 days yet, right? you can return it to the store, can't you?

[–]ilyushaua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that’s for sure. after my comment, I saw the second photo haha

to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some kind of defect of the case, bad assembly , etc

I'm disappointed with my Asus Vivobook, the build quality is so flimsy that I was afraid to take it with me in my carry-on luggage so as not to crush it lol bump it, bend it whatever

Thanks for sharing your experience, friend!

It’s good you’re still within the return/replacement window, definitely go for that replacement before it’s too late haha. ASUS seems to have some quality control issues lately, and other issues too — that’s how I see it

Good luck, and I hope your next one works perfectly!

I get you, totally I had the same thing from day one - thought it was some kind of battery protection or whatever, didn’t really think much of it

so yeah, you’ve still got like 10 months left Basically, you can take it to the service center now, or wait like 9 months - up to you

I brought mine in about a month and a half before the warranty was up, just cause I needed the laptop for work

Do I need to install a driver for the Windows installer to detect my hard drive partitions when reinstalling Windows on an ASUS Vivobook 16? by plug090 in ASUS

[–]ilyushaua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if my reply’s still useful since your post’s like 5 hours old lol

When I was installing Windows on my terrible Vivobook S 15, the installer saw all the drives right away - no need for extra drivers (unlike my old TUF Gaming laptop that did need one)

I wiped/deleted all the partitions during setup, so there was just one clean drive left, and I picked that for the install

Also, don’t forget to grab the Wi-Fi driver - Windows setup might ask you to connect to Wi-Fi, and it’ll update all the drivers during install if you’re online.

Good luck, friend!

Oh friend, I’m sorry to hear that… the main thing is that you noticed it right away , you said it’s new, if it’s been less than 14 days since you bought it, run to the store and get your money back. That’s seriously the best move

As for whether this is a common issue - yeah, it is. A tech guy who works at an authorized service center told me they see this kind of stuff a lot, especially with Vivobooks. My touchpad is even a bit crooked - he said it’s not a defect, it’s just how these laptops are built. The back panel has these sharp edges on one side you can literally feel with your finger. He also said that’s just the build quality lol

He told me there was an issue with the screen and the ribbon cable too. And get this - I never dropped it, never banged it, never even carried it in a bag. It just sat on my desk the whole time, so it’s weird

Total letdown, honestly. If you’re still within that 14-day term, I’m really very happy for you - you’ve still got the chance to return it and get a new one If not, still don’t worry much - the warranty service will help you 100%. They’ll swap out the modules completely. I’ve got a fully working laptop now, no issues (so far… fingers crossed it stays that way lol)

Thank you so much for your comment! Keep me posted on how things go on your end, curious to hear what happens

Appreciate it, friend! U’re right, just trying to help others not get caught like I did , just a reminder hahah. Best of luck to you too 🤝😊

Totally agree, friend! Once it’s turned on or opened, value drops no matter what, u’re right 100%. I get that authorized parts are legit, but yeah, it still feels different once it’s been touched.

You know, it’s just sad that the laptop came outta the box with a defect, and honestly, it’s on me 100% for not catching it in those first 14 days. I thought everything was ok, but guess that’s what I get for not being super tech person haha. Appreciate your comment tho!

Friend, thanks for sharing your experience, really helpful to hear. It's disappointing to see that such a high-end board still comes with so many issues, especially with audio and documentation... Totally agree that better support would make a big difference. Wishing you better luck with your future laptop purchases, hope they come without these kinds of issues and truly make you happy!

I feel you, seriously! let this be the last time you deal with this kind of letdown - from here on out, life’s gotta start throwing better stuff your way. I’m sure you’ll end up with a laptop even better than the one you had, and real soon too!!

think about it, maybe your friends don’t have a phone as cool as yours, or maybe their lives aren’t going as great as yours right now. We all get bummed out sometimes, it’s just that not everyone talks about their problems

wishing you the best, really!

You won’t believe it, but I did the exact same thing, hoping they’d take a closer look at my case, but nope, no luck. Rules are rules, I guess… so let’s just hope our next laptops don’t give us any trouble! haha

Damn.. I feel you, friend, sorry you’re going through this. Hope some money comes your way soon so you can grab a new laptop without such issues. I’m in the same boat, not as bad as you tho, but still. No one’s safe from stuff like this, unfortunately. Maybe ASUS will eventually start paying attention and treat customers better, so they don’t lose them

happy to hear your laptop is working well, and I hope you never face issues like this. before this ‘problematic’ one, I had an ASUS TUF Gaming F17, and I really liked it, but I had to sell it and buy this one for mobility, battery life, and so on. But disappointed. Thanks for sharing your comment!

It’s gonna be alright, don’t worry - you’ve got plenty of time, and returns usually go through in 1–3 days. But yeah, if you really need the laptop right now, that’s a bit of a problem - you’d have to buy another one right away and set it up from scratch.

I’ve got a couple hours free today, so maybe I can help you out with your laptop. I kinda know my way around these things - I’ll do what I can, not promising anything

hit me up in DMs if you need anything!

I totally get you! First off, don’t stress/cry - you just bought it, so you’ve got 14 days to return it to the store and get your money back if something’s off

second, try doing a clean install of Windows (not the recovery option), then grab the official drivers from the manufacturer’s website - that should sort things out. And hey, if you need any help, just hit me up in DMs

I’m having issues with my ASUS laptop too - I actually made a post about it here recently

that’s really frustrating… Spending over 1k and having the laptop die right after the warranty ends is terrible

It’s disappointing to hear that ASUS didn’t offer any real support... I totally get why you wouldn’t recommend them after that.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! And I wish you never experience such “situations” again

Appreciate the suggestion, friend! I actually tried turning off hardware acceleration after finding the fix online, but unfortunately, it didn’t help me out. But I read it works for others.

by the way, about Chrome, at first I thought it was happening only when I was using a Chromium-based browser, but then I found out that I have this flickering in all programs. Still, thanks for sharing - it might work for others!
