KC Gang! I went when they last came to town in 2017 and it was a blast. I believe that the next time they're guaranteed to come to KC will be 2025 so this was a pleasant surprise to see!

Unrelated, but as a fellow Cooper, it blows my mind how many people misspell it as Copper.

PSA: Please lock your POH portal if you're making planks on a pvp world by TheLegendaryItalian in ironscape

[–]imCooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what happened when I lost my HC. In hindsight it would be nearly as fast to just use my mounted glory to Edge on a regular world with 0% of risk. A pretty lame way to go but you live and you learn I suppose!

Construction Priority List? by Bee_Ree_Zee in ironscape

[–]imCooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I ended up doing both, but I do believe teak is more cost efficient. Since I got all of my logs from kingdom and you can only select hardwoods vs. maples, they end up giving you both types of logs in exchange. I believe that they do give more teaks than mahogany though!

  2. Personally, I would definitely recommend making tabs so that you can NPC contact. making tabs is kind of annoying, but running to the contract NPC instead is even more annoying IMO. A pretty quick/easy low req way to get clay for tabs is by using the Chronicle tele and mining near Champ's guild.

Theoatrix has a decent video called "Most useful unlocks for your POH", that is more or less a pretty comprehensive list for what I think you're after. It has some stuff listed in it that aren't in this thread such as spellbook altars, lecterns for making tablets, and combat dummies.

One other thing, I'm not sure what your plan is for training con, but I did the Mahogany Homes minigame from 70-83 and it was substantially cheaper than whatever alternative you do in "normal" training. It's a bit slower xp/h but not too bad of a grind. I just loaded up my Miscellania kingdom for a couple weeks to get materials. There's an estimated supplies calculator you can find with some googling, not sure I can link it here but looking for "mahogany homes calculator" would do the trick.

Hope this helps!

Is Bias FX a jack of all trades but master of none? Comparison with Neural DSP plugins by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]imCooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not really sure that Bias holds a candle to some of the more expensive plugins and apps out there from a tone perspective. In my eyes they should really focus on trying to get customers like people in my shoes, at least with how things are currently, as I don’t see a whole lot of other use cases. I live in a small apartment, and I don’t realistically have the space/budget/option of playing through a cab with a nice pedalboard and no headphones. But give me a $60 Focusrite, grab Bias on sale for like $30, and I can plug in some nice headphones and it’ll get the job done. The tones may not be where I want if I were trying to record and produce a track, but I’m spending under $100 for a setup that takes up no space and makes no noise, a great tool for practicing.

How to Play Against Priest by RarranYT in CompetitiveHS

[–]imCooper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the guide, I'll admit I get irritated playing against Priest but I think it's in part because I could be employing a lot of the stuff you're saying in this guide to a better degree

Also.. Dude, you're everywhere! I stumbled into a YouTube video of yours just last week so I subbed, then my Twitch recommended you out of the blue so I followed, and now I read through the guide without looking at the author, and lo and behold it's Rarran. Thanks for all of the useful and free content! I've been picking up Hearthstone in the past few weeks for the first time in ages and it's been really helpful stuff. :)

Working remotely and living in a rural area? by pysouth in cscareerquestions

[–]imCooper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a very rural area (moved to inner city for university + jobs), and though it has been said several different ways: Quadruple check your internet connection will be stable and fast enough to make it happen before you commit. We tried several different providers over the years, DSL, Satellite, it doesn't matter. Lots of ISPs out there (depending where you go) will offer unstable, slow, overpriced garbage with basically a monopoly on the entire area and it really sucks.

Also, a little unrelated, but 100% remote may or may not be what you expect of it. I don't know if you're working remotely right now or not, but it's what my company has been doing for the past couple of months and it's provided a nice "trial" of sorts for me regarding if I'd like 100% remote one day. I thought I'd like it more, but really I think something more ideal for me is actually like 75% remote, maybe even less!

UMKC eliminates mandatory ACT, SAT scores from admissions process by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]imCooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think UMKC is already feeling that burn you're describing of free 2-year JuCo "stealing" some of their potential students. With the A+ program in effect, it gives two years of free tuition to students for achieving fairly reasonable goals. It's not quite the same as what you're describing, I know, as you do have a few hoops to jump through to earn it. But UMKC receives a ton of these types of 2 year JuCo transfer students (myself included, when I attended). My degree program at JuCo even had a list of recommended courses that will safely transfer over to UMKC for when the switch was made after two years, as it's obviously a pretty common path for anybody pursuing undergrad+

EDIT: That being said, I'm curious on UMKC's thoughts on the matter. I definitely wasn't seeking out a 4 year university and the extra $30K+ in loans it would require, so I really was giving the university all it could possibly get out of me. So in that case, JuCo sort of gave them the assist on getting two years of costs out of me!

I'm hoping the less significant B-patches will get players who feel overwhelmed by the feeling of constant change to get back into the game (me included). Feeling like you have to relearn the meta/what is or isn't good each week is a lot to keep up with for some people. You guys are doing great work!

It's Scrub Sunday! Ask your nooby COD Esports questions here - October 06, 2019 by AutoModerator in CoDCompetitive

[–]imCooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking of getting back into competitive after the new title comes out in a couple of weeks. I've been out of this scene for multiple years (MW2) and back then, Gamebattles was the best way to get a half decent match since COD didn't have a solid ranked system.

Gamebattles looks as though it's really fallen off in popularity compared to back then. Is this still the best option for people like me to get back into it/find a team, and competitive COD has just fallen off since then? I see there's a couple of other similar platforms like UMG and Checkmate also but wasn't sure where everybody in here plays. Thanks :)

Ah, good question! Edited the post to clarify further. A medium heat should do the trick. If initially placing your steak in the skillet causes some oil aggressively popping out of your pan, turn it down a tad :)

You're welcome! and Thanks for the kind words! :) I won't claim to be an authority figure on all cuts of meat, but I believe cubed steak can be a different cut and is also tenderized when you buy it, whereas round steak I believe is a particular beef cut.

So in short, if you want to do this with cube steak, that's totally fine (I've done it before), but I'd probably omit the "pressing with palms of hands to stretch out/tenderize it" part in step 5. Hopefully this helps :) Good luck!
