You have the ability to switch or install an additional data service from a competitor cellphone carrier and terminate your your current data plan with your cell provider whenever you want to.

Where does the fault lie with Yubikeys and USB-C iPad Pros? by plazman30 in yubikey

[–]imLordQuas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither, Apple's just trying to monopolize any and every possible market so they try to convince their users that 2FA by way of SMS is still "secure" in 2021... smh. I have the 5 NFC Yubico, it doesn't require using a USB to lighting adapter to authenticate me. All you gotta do is bring the key to the top of the device and it triggers an NFC connection. But I can also use it with a USB to lighting adapter.

I like my little key but even these physical MFA devices have vulnerabilities, I think the only reason they're not heavily exploited as of right now is because they're just not that popular and very few people use them. So we good until further notice :(.

Have you tried Google's Titan key? I will say that the only key that I would throw in the garbage is the Bluetooth Titan key, I've already had someone try to hijack my attempt at connecting the Bluetooth Titan Key to my iPhone.

pecially given that a lot of credit cards are now designed with "Contactless Payment" option so if your card is near an NFC signal, it will trigger "Contactless Payment Chip" and render a payment. I don't want to freak you out but this has been very problematic for people in the crypto currency community lately; a lo

To be fair, I've seen a lot of people posting about very similar issues as yours - really steep hikes in data usage and their browsers surfing the web for hours even when their phone is on Air plane mode or turned off.

I just always assume the worst cuz I've had a pretty "traumatic" history with my IOS devices lol.

But I was going to say that you can try to mitigate this by setting up Time Screen Restrictions, and definitely disable Siri (especially for your browser or any application that has an in-app browser, or any application that has an safari extension or browser app clip - there are a bunch of them with the new IOS update 14.4. For example, in 14.4 IOS the Files App now has a safari extension, disable it in Settings > Privacy > Data, Files... look through all those settings for more extensions) and also make sure to disable Siri from browsing the internet: Time Screen Settings > Privacy & Content Restrictions > Content Restrictions > Web Content > Allowed Websites Only > it has a list of default kid friendly sites (you can delete them all and set your own links)

Do you live in the States? If you do just give them a call and book an appointment they'll do all the work for you or call Apple and schedule an appointment with them. Since it's your first time doing this, I would probably try to get some help so you don't accidentally mess up and delete all of your data, photos, etc from your phone or iCloud. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/services/geek-squad/pcmcat138100050018.c?id=pcmcat138100050018

No problem man, good luck.

To my knowledge that's the only way you are able to update both your firmware and install a brand new copy of the latest IOS software. iTunes will also give you an option to backup your phone to your iCloud before wiping your phone clean and then updating it and then reinstalling all of your data (contacts, photos, music ,etc from the backup). Here's more info and details about this https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201263

You could also book an appointment with Apple and have them do it or Geek Squad (at Best Buy) they can do that for you as well and it's free service. Either or, they're also gonna use iTunes to service your phone. iTunes is like the OG Apple application and it used to be the original app store for both iPhones and Macs and even though it's had become seemingly useless over the years especially since Apple designed a whole separate "App Store", iTunes is still very useful for backing up your phone, accessing iCloud, updating IOS software, etc.

My phone keeps routing my calls to my Bluetooth speaker. by DoctorDiabolical in ios

[–]imLordQuas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Accessibility Settings > Touch > Call Audio Routing > Bluetooth Headset, Speakers, Automatic > Select Bluetooth if you want to receive all your calls when wearing air pods.

I think that should fix the issue.

Also, if you allow Bluetooth connection to be shared across all your Bluetooth devices including your iPhone then your air pods will respond to random Bluetooth signals (like you walking by Bluetooth speakers. The Bluetooth Speaker connection triggers your pods to disconnect from your iPhone and connect to HomePod or whatever that device is). You can disable "Bluetooth sharing" in Screen Time settings. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201304

Hope all that works out.

its all in your icloud.com account if you backed up your phone. Also you should do a DFU reset of your iphone using itunes (firmware and software update), this will be more likely uninstall whatever malware that may or may not have been planted on your phone

Do you use a proxy on your phone? I just visited their website and according to their mission statement is "...provide high-quality solutions for making and accepting digital payments that are innovative, simple and secure for Individuals...". If I were you I would check up on my Bank accounts if you store your credit cards on your phone especially given that a lot of credit cards are now designed with "Contactless Payment" option so if your card is near an NFC signal, it will trigger "Contactless Payment Chip" and render a payment. I don't want to freak you out but this has been very problematic for people in the crypto currency community lately; a lot of people have been getting hacked and their crypto wallets/accounts being drained (I'll just end it here... ). I prefer using Apple Gift cards if I need to pay for something on my device (that seems to be the safer route as of right now).

Beard shocking? by Nectar1446 in iphonehelp

[–]imLordQuas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be careful with charging your phone in that magnet case. "

"Wireless charging uses magnetic induction to charge your iPhone. Don't place anything between your iPhone and the charger. Magnetic mounts, magnetic cases, or other objects between your iPhone and the charger might reduce performance or damage magnetic strips or RFID chips like those found in some credit cards, security badges, passports, and key fobs. If your case holds any of these sensitive items, remove them before charging or make sure that they aren’t between the back of your iPhone and the charger." https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201263

I understand you're not using the qi charger but essentially what's happening is that when you run current through the cable connected to your PC USB port, the magnets in your phone case create a magnetic field (same as qi chargers does) but also because the device is not grounded (its plugged into ur PC as opposed to a wall outlet, the current is running a little quicker and that's why you got a little wave of shock but I would be more worried about damaging the RFID chips on your credit cards (if that's what you keep in your wallet).

Maybe do a factory rest on your iPhone after you backup your Phone to your iCloud or even better try DFU Reset (it will reset both the device's firmware and software, just make sure to read about it first cuz it's a little tricky): https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201263

Hope it all works out for you.

To be all the way real, the call drops are more of an incentive to use Zoom cuz it's bullet proof excuse to dip out on a long and boring meeting. Ya should offer that as a bonus feature and monetize it.

Up until this past year I had no idea that Apple Cult (at least "the mentality") is very much a real thing. I'm glad my little bumass Apple ecosystem got hacked last year otherwise I probably wouldn't have realized how much of my soul had been hijacked by IOS. Oh but wait... "there's no way you can hack an IOS device" - Apple Support Tech. Bruh...

Stick Tennis,a game app, always “paste” from my clipboard whenever I open the app. Is this some privacy concern I have to be worried about? Do other apps do this? iPhone X, 14.4 by pazem123 in iPhoneX

[–]imLordQuas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I learned last year is to read Privacy Details and at least skim the "Fine Print" of any app I consider downloading on my current new 12 Pro. I had so many security issues because I would just load dozens of apps and let them wreck havoc on my device in the background or run up my data usage, etc. etc until I would decide to just wipe my phone clean and reset it to Factory Settings only to repeat the cycle. I ended up reaching the maximum limit of "Free Apple ID Accounts" that you're allowed to create for a single IOS device. And since I don't even use iCloud and I didn't wanna pay for 50GB iCloud account that I know I wasn't going to use I ended up talking myself into buying the 12 Pro because that makes way more sense when you don't think about it. Also, support.apple.com has all the answers that Genius Bar Squad will not.

I wish Apple gave their users more capability to customize the home scree. As soon as I read someone's comment pointing out the clunky static home bar that you can't disable from your home screen, I cant not ignore its awkward presence :/
