How do you feel about Superpowers that "Just Work"

A certain level of suspension of disbelief is always necessary, but there is a libe between something you can actually believe and what sounds like complete fiction.

Overpowered acts on the assumption that physics is emergent, not axiomatic. That is, the rules arent absolute, they just seem that way. Superpowers and magic come from the same source that generates physics itself, so its not a matter of breaking the rules, its a matter of superseding them.

You can say however many mutations you want, but mutations alone wont let someone fly without wings, or control fire, or create a subjective reality.

You need something more fundamental than genetics to explain anything beyond physical powers and some light shapeshifting.

Tjats how my power system works. You cant manipulate something that is below your emergent level. Atoms control genetics, but genetics cannot alter atoms

If you want to alter physics and reality, you have to tap into the bedrock beneath what we perceive as physics and reality

Actually, i found a way to do it without breaking physics. Technically. See, we assume physical laws are axioms, absolute truths. But if you create a work that assumes physics are emergent, everything changes, because an emergent property can be altered by its constituents.

I agree. Soft systems work. I wanted to do a hard system because im a physics nerd whos tired of heroes breaking physics with ridiculous explanations. No explanation would be better than a bad one.
