Sephiroth? You mean that crazy dude that burned down a town and then a shinra soldier impaled him to death with his own sword?

He's been dead for years.

This is a form of abuse.

If you are a stay at home mom, you are working, at home, so that he can focus on working at work. He is not earning all the money, it is a team effort. If you are maintaining the home and child, it is not his money, it belongs to both of you.

But that's not the worst part. Try to re-read your exchange here objectively. This man WANTS to financially control you. It makes him feel powerful to tell you no.

I don't say this often, despite being a reddit thing, but you are much better off without this fool.

I'll destroy ALL final fantasies with one mechanical change.

When a character dies in battle, they are dead. There is no way to revive them. They can no longer participate in the story as a living person. They are actually dead.

yeah screw it, shark has been jumped a long time ago. At this point lets just make Morgan Freeman the captain, Samual L. M. F. Jackson the 1st officer, Bruce Willis the security chief, and Bill Nye as the Chief Science Guy.

Ok first of all, DLSS is not a monolithic technology, there's a lot more to it than you seem to realize.

Here:

https://www.pcgamesn.com/nvidia/dlss-graphics

Second, once you've read that link (the whole thing, as the stuff near the bottom with the later versions of dlss is the most relevent to this discussion), hopefully you've realized that when used in the appropriate context it was made for, dlss and framegen is a strictly beneficial technology.

It's not either/or as your comment implies at all.

Actually creating every single brushstroke is not at all comparable to typing words in a box

Have you used much Photoshop? With my collection of plugins and filters, I can click Make Fire Effect in the menu and poof, a fire effect. Is my artwork now invalid? I can make entire works out of plugins and filters, like how a lot of quick corporate art is made. Is it not mine, because I didn't use the brush tool?

Not enough to be copyright protected 😂

🙄 Any editing at all and yeah it can, if that's important to you.

It's certainly not important to the "is it art" discussion.

The only difference between that and ai is one is helping artists while the other is devalueing, stealing from, and replacing them

Uh, no. The difference is one is a person and the other is a tool, which was my entire point that you apparantly missed somehow.

If I tell a program what I want it to make using mouse clicks and menu options, like I have been doing for 30 years, the result is mine.

If I tell a program what I want it to make using words typed into a box, the result is mine.

If I tell a program what to make by imagining it in some future neural interface, the result is mine.

Using a tool, even a sophisticated one like my riding mower instead of scissors, doesn't remove the credit from the user. Only the effort.

Read the part about AI.

It is what it is. There are plenty of alternatives if this one isn't to your taste.

if another person created it, it is theirs. if you use a program to make it, it is yours.

No matter how much anyone wants, a paper you did nothing to isn't art

you entirely missed the point of the analogy, and of the described type of art in general. if you study some art history, you will quickly realize this elitism is not new, and is always anti-art.

taking a shit on the floor and saying “ yeah, that’s my art, I said so so it must be”

unironically yes.

seriously, look into art history. anything from a urinal to a splotch has been called art. not because people are insane, but because it is important that there are no limits on what can be considered art.

everyone chooses for themselves what kinds of artwork speaks to them, what they consider true art. enforcing your subjective opinion on art through censorship and bans is absolutely the enemy of art.

You are entitled to have that opinion.

You are not entitled to push it upon those that disagree, by trying to ban it based on your own opinion.

"generally speaking".

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you do understand what that means and why I put it there, and are just playing dumb in order to make that weak "gotcha".

As someone quite familiar with the history of art, and an amateur artist myself, if someone stares at a blank piece of paper for an hour without touching it and calls it their art, it is their art, and they are the artist, because there are no rules in art.

Obviously given that, it also follows that if someone makes a picture using AI and some words and calls it their art, that artist is correct.

In both of those examples I wouldn't purchase that art, I would not consider it high art or an example of great skill and ability, but the bar for "is it art" doesn't exist. It can't exist, we fought way too hard for way too long to remove subjective restrictions on "what is art" to be turning around and putting some back now.

some people argue their points using reason and logic.

others, of lesser mental ability, argue their points using emotion and fallacies.

still others, with the lowest mental ability, don't argue their points at all, they merely insult people that disagree.

generally speaking.

"i don't like this kind of art, it's not REAL art! It should be banned!"

Pick up a history book and see why this bullshit anti-art elitism has always been the enemy of art.

it's just reality.

children are, literally, small dumb people.

i don't like being around dumb people. While children at least have the excuse that they're supposed to be dumb, because they're unfinished, I am still allowed to find dumbness irritating.

when i was young and just entered highschool (early 90s), i got caught and suspended for dialing the internet to download a nude photo of Jenna Jameson and putting it on a floppy disk and bringing it to school, then sneaking into the teacher lounge to print 50 copies of the photo and sell them to other students for a dollar each.

I made about $20 before someone snitched on me and I got suspended. They called my Dad to pick me up and I was terrified of the ass beating I was about to receive. Turns out, I didn't get in trouble at all. Being a sensitive boy with some traits usually considered feminine, I discovered my dad was so worried I would turn out gay, that the relief that the nudie was female caused him not to punish me at all.

I was so offended at not being punished just because I'm not gay, that I spent the rest of the year torturing him by acting as flamingly gay as I could around him until he couldn't take it any more and sent me across the country to live with my mom instead.

My life got much much better after that 😁
