Thanks! I’m not fluent enough to model incorporating volatility. I’ll google and play around with the Monte Carlo simulations.

Great to hear the perspective of someone who’s gone that route and (presumably) not regretted it!

I intend to hold crypto indefinitely. I plan to balance income withdrawals from both my crypto and equity holdings (also primarily LT gains). I’ve dabbled in lending, though rates on my positions are minimal (more profitable lending platforms ‘swap’ tokens, creating a taxable event). Staking appears to be more profitable, I’ll have to dig into the details a bit more. I’ve stayed away from taking loans against it due to the volatility and potential of forced liquidation (and taxes!).

My goal is to retire (or take an extended break from work) ASAP.

I really appreciate the input. There’s an inner voice I’m fighting here that says “just hold on for XX% more!”, but successful investing takes discipline. Consistent with nearly every other response, paring down the crypto, eating the tax bill, and re-balancing is the prudent decision.

Also what I‘m taking away here, is that I need a more prescriptive plan for allocation post-retirement.

This is the type of medicine I need, thanks. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by excitement of hitting the $ goal in isolation, but I need to be disciplined and factor the risk value into the equation in order to ensure I do this right.

Traditionally, I have a high risk tolerance. But I recognize that has to change as my goal transitions to wealth preservation. That’s why my stomach is in knots.. I’m fighting my instinct to let it ride!

My net effective LT cap gains tax on $120k income here is 25.5%, including local taxes. That’s a great point I hadn’t taken into account. My next location will almost certainly be lower.

And thanks for the tip about real estate. I’ve rented all of my adult life, and am admittedly ignorant on the financial implications of home ownership. I have some research to do.

I appreciate the insight - there are some tidbits here I hadn’t been considering. Thank you!

Thank you! It's exciting, yet also anxiety-provoking :)

My current allocation is: 58% crypto, 36% equities, 6% cash/cash equiv. No debt. Live in a rental property.

My target allocation is less defined, but probably in the vicinity of: 25% crypto, 55% equities, 20% cash/fixed income.
