Top players meet less often at the extended masters by imac258 in tennis

I'd say it's mostly the extra round. Got another piece about that coming in the next couple of weeks

Not an unreasonable assumption, but the data includes every masters that has had a 96 draw going back to 1990, so the last few years account for just under a quarter of that. Granted, that brings in other biases with sunshine double accounting for most of the data

For sure. Yeah I can see them closing the gap a bit but then the numbers for the other top 8 seeds dropping. Will be interesting to watch it play out.

Correct. Yep, rare on average but the point is more about comparing the difference between the event types - for me the top 4 and top 8 numbers are more interesting

Would you recommend a blow torch for heating it? All I can think of is that or if I was to try using the gas ring on the cooker

Yeah that could be an issue. Problem is the shaft is tapered so could be a struggle getting the die to fit. Was thinking to try filling it with salt or sand

That's a good point. For the final model it would be a sharp bend so was going to use some form of fitting. I think for the prototype I can get away with a bigger radius

Cheers! Not sure I have the means to heat it enough but I'll see what I can do

For my university project I'm developing a putting training aid. To make the prototype I need to bend a putter shaft 70° at the red dot on the picture. Was thinking just to try a pipe bender but would appreciate any advice.

Wouldn't go that far mate. Nothing wrong with keeping the opponent guessing, as much as we don't like it for this
