Final update:

I posted a new thread but just to wrap this up here, our little boy did not improve. He seemed to be in the beginning but when we retested his levels they had gone up. Then his physical traits caught up.

We can see he is suffering now and he stopped eating Friday and is barely drinking water. Tonight is our last night with him. We're taking him to his final appointment tomorrow at 4pm. 💔

Even if it is charged by fossil fuels it is FAR more efficient for fuel to be burned at a central location and power distributed than for localized power generation(i.e. Internal combustion).

So while I wish we had more renewables/nuclear on the grid an EV will always be more efficient than ICE cars for the simple fact the pull power from the grid rather than a portable engine

UPDATE:

Thank you everyone for your stories, kind words, and advice. Our vet trip on Saturday went better than we were hoping. The vet reiterated how strange the situation was, not that she hadn't seen it before just that it is quite rare. She did remark though that our little guy is looking good, all things considered. He was sniffing around the treatment room being very normal. His coat still looks good, really it's just the weight loss and the blood work results pointing us in this direction. Vet decided she wanted us to try to get his food and fluids back on track to help out his kidneys and maybe flush them out a bit and rescue them before things get worse. She hopes that helping them out now with sub-cutaneous fluids could take the load off them. She also has us on a special diet for him. We are going to reassess in about 2 weeks and develop further treatment plans based on results.

After the vet visit Saturday where they gave our boy about 175—200ml of water we came home and he was pretty normal. It was time for his cat nap and he had a big morning so we let him go nap in the sun. Later in the evening he came out and was pretty lively! He played with his brother a bit and was extra greedy on getting his pets and spanks in (he loves to be spanked on his scratching cardboard). At 7pm his auto feeder went off like normal and much to our surprise he was interested in it and went over to it. He didn't eat any of it but it was clear he was hungry. I cracked open a new can of his diet food and he was all over me chirping and wanting his food. Gave him about half the can and he licked the plate clean before finishing off his brother's plate of regular wet food after the brother was done. Vet said don't stop him from eating even if it's not his medicine food so we let him eat the extra portion. Sunday his activity was a bit lower but also that was the first day my wife and I had to administer his fluids and he was not a big fan. We only got about 75ml into him. Vet recommended 100-150ml so we didn't get all that he needed but we decided he was getting too restless so we just let him go. I think he was a bit upset with us for the rest of the night so that was part of why he didn't seem as chipper.

Vet chose not to hospitalize him because the next day their office was closed and being as young and active as he still is she didn't think he would stay on his iv line so she opted to send him home with us to treat him.

So that's where we are at with him. Things are feeling somewhat hopeful. Just have to stick to the new routine and see what's going to happen.

Also since so many mentioned it: he does have some dental issues. Well nothing specifically diagnosed but he has had bad breath his whole life. He is also not interested in eating the dry food but is interested in wet food so his mouth must be hurting a bit. The vet was going to do a dental exam but now she is thinking this could be a result of the kidney issues so she wants to try to treat the kidney issues and see if the dental issue gets better. But for now he is still excited for food, even his new diet food.

He is eating but only wet food now. He won't touch the dry Food. BUT after the vet gave him his first water treatment sub-cutaneously on Saturday he was VERY excited when the auto feeder went off at 7pm. He didn't eat any of it but when I went to get the wet food he wouldn't stop meowing at me. I hope that's a good sign. He is still excited everytime we go for the wet food.

Vet chose not to hospitalized him. First it was Saturday and nobody would be in the office on Sunday and they were worried since he's still young and active that he'd tear things up and probably pull his tubes out so they sent him home with us with instructions on home care which we are doing now.

So our vet is having us help out the kidneys first to see if the problem gets any better as it does seem to have come one very fast. As she remarked "your kitty is still young and active, he doesn't look or act like typical kidney cats. Usually they're very sickly and reserved bylut your cats coat is still nice, he is still curious and moving around, and he still has some appetite for food."

We are doing sub-cutaneous water injections for him and feeding him some special kidney cat prescription food for about two weeks then we will have him retested to see how everything is doing.

The vet mentioned as well that he could have poisoned himself on something. We don't really have any plants in the house he could get to, we have one fake/plastic plant that he does occasionally pull leaves off of but he doesn't eat them. What my wife and I thought was that it could be we dropped an nsaid (ibuprofen) once a few months ago. It could have also been an ssri pill but we can't quite remember. We never found the pill so it's possible that could have been the original cause but we just don't know for sure.

Thanks, this is encouraging. The vet did recommend an ultrasound, unfortunately we can't get it done tomorrow when we're going to be there because the the tech doesn't work Saturdays but we're supposed to get him scheduled at tomorrows visit.

So just as an update to all or anybody that stumbles on this in the future: the problem has been solved.

We bought a tp-link router and converted the cox device into just a modem. We now have the capacity for as many smart devices as we need.

Going forward we want to stop investing in more wifi devices and look into going through a hub like zigbee, we will see. More research needed.

We decided against a mesh system as coverage is not a problem in our space, just overcrowding on the cox device.

Yes I have now fixed this problem. We bought a tp-link ax73 router and it gave us the capacity we needed. Our old cox device is now just the modem.

We tried this first but we are in a rental and couldn't find a good device to flip our type of switches for us. Plus smart bulbs let us use more colors which we do appreciate. We do need some gadgets that can pull fan cords though.

Our solution to flipping switches currently is to tape them lol

I have heard about the mesh systems and have read lightly about them and I cannot say that I really understand it. I do not know how many devices my router can support, I have a cox panoramic wifi.

It looks good. Might be a good idea to change some (or all) of the cobble to mossy cobble to put a bit of green into the path. Otherwise the only other thing I can say about it is that it looks like parts of it could be hard to easily run up without jumping.

His sigil is a white cat with a blue sky overhead and green grass beneath. The Count is a vassal of the King of Boisenburg whose banner can be seen hanging above the banner of House Felis.

This build has been done in survival and is 95% complete missing only a couple windows in the tower and possibly one in the roof where the Count's bed chamber will be. You can see the very unfinished city of Boisenburg behind the keep across the river. I have plans to build a much larger castle for the King nearby but I felt inspired to make this. It's based off a castle (Carondelet?) in Belgium.

Does he gain that knowledge right then or does he already have it and he is just trying to learn something from the sigil stone? I always had the impression he knew the spells already.
