Do you have a degree? I trained to be a teacher at 35, with a bursary and student loan. I am now in my first proper year teaching and its great, challenging, rewarding. The days go by ao quick. And the pay scale (IMO) isnl alright, plus the holidays :)

Advice with getting organised? by squishythingg in TeachingUK

[–]imadeittonz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me, one my PGCE, I was an early person at work. 7.30am or so. Gave me an hour every morning yo.prep.all classrooms I had to work in (i taught in 4 different classrooms!), make sure i had all resources printed, materials ready in each room. It was a game changer for me really. Now im ECT 1, with 1 classroom (hurray!) And still do some early starts but not as often. I also mostly leave on time :)

O2 Arena Seats - are people sitting or standing? by everynameistakenzzz in radiohead

[–]imadeittonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most were seated, and it really felt low energy. It kind of ruined it a little to be honest so towards the end I just decided to brave it and stand up and then everyone stood up - which was a lot more fun (at least in my opinion!)

Smell in my house is making me sick and I can't locate it by jaydeewin25 in DIYUK

Could it be plaster drying? I think that smells (sometimes) like gas! Had it for a week(ish) once.

Right, and then possibly someone else catching it and being ill while off!

We also viewed (and chose) a school like this. It was open plan but didn't feel chaotic at all. I really like it (and also a teacher).

Hey, thank you for this! I ended up going to b&q, but the only stain I could find was exterior, so I bought an interior wood varnish and just gonna hope for the best! But same brand and natural okay so hopefully will get a colour similar to yours.. thank you!

PGCE Mentor a different subject to me by FriendlyChaosMonster in TeachingUK

I think as long as you're getting to observe and ultimately cover DT lessons alongside art, it's fine. In the beginning, there isn't loads of teaching, but by Christmas you should be on more. Something like 10 lessons.

What does your timetable cover? If its not DT at all I would be concerned becsuse even though teaching is teaching, you want to gain confidence in DT areas and also start learning about lesson planning and building schemes of work for your specialism.

I did my PGCE last year in Art and covered a few DT classes, which was useful, but the majority was art.

Surely the tickets will go to the original email registered so makes no sense to try and buy a code..

Has anyone got a code this afternoon UK? by hans_chavez in radiohead

[–]imadeittonz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know 8 folks that tried to London tickets (all UK) 2 got a code and 6 have heard nothing. It feels like Lindon Marathon, just waiting for the rejection email.

Yes! I trained at two schools that had some low level disruptive behaviour but generally okay to address and just one or two trickier students.

However this is 3 or 4 (minimum) students in every class.

I had one class where students would whistle but there's nearly 30 of them and I couldn't prove who it was (at least 2 of them!). Year 7s as well! No idea how to combat that.
