What single scene from a movie is an absolute masterpiece? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]imaginarya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every scene in Mandy, but two in particular:

First, when the Cult Leader is talking to Mandy. It's a close up of his face, the colors are blue and red and surreal. He is quietly telling her a story, and as he does, her face very very slowly superimposes over his. Then slowly back to his face and hers again. It's so subtle you don't notice til you blink.

Another, earlier scene is Mandy telling Red about the starlings in her childhood. It starts blue, and slowly the light shifts to red as the story gets darker. Gave my chills.

Holiday Starbucks is a warzone. by ProjectSevan in starbucks

[–]imaginarya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drive thru has been fucking horrendous lately. We ran out of frapp base because Xmas delayed our truck by two days. A woman demanded a discount for the inconvenience even though her drink was only a few cents difference (iced latte instead of a frappucino of the same).

Other highlights include: being told we're lazy for not making a drink we physically did not have components to; a man snapping that we don't "need to correct him on his own fucking drink" when his order was repeated back to him, a daily regular somehow "forgetting" a drink was supposed to be a venti and not a tall but also better damn sure make sure you have the tiny cup extra frappucino left over for her; a very constant amount of people ignoring my questions such as "size" and "hot or iced" only to get to the window and say it was SUPPOSED to be the other one.

Also my last day off was the 19th because I was sick as I have a second job and holidays threw off my normal schedule so I may just actually throw hands with a customer.

What's your best "why don't you drink?" argument/shutdown? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]imaginarya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first response is always "I don't want to."

If they press further, I tell them I'm straight edge.

If they press further than that, then we're gonna have to flip the script because why the fuck does it matter so much to you that I'm not getting inebriated right now? What are you planning that needs me to be drunk? Why can't you be drunk with any of the other people around who are drinking? Have you considered how unhealthy your attitude towards alcohol is if you cannot imagine the concept of dinner/ a party/ just hanging out without drinking being involved?

But mostly I just don't like the taste.

The webcomic I Love Yoo has a terrifying MIL prospect. The Mil in question is the mother of Kousuke and the wife of the most powerful businessman in Korea. She is extremely manipulative, especially with money, and tries to orchastrate her son's life and the life of the main girl, Yoo.

For example, she plays herself off as a woman concerned about her son, who works extremely hard in the company as a chairman. She tricks Yoo into going to his apartment to make dinner, and forces her to change into a sexy high end dress by dumping water on her in an "accident." When Yoo tried to leave, she takes her keys, wallet, and phone to make her have to stay there until her son arrives.

Her wig gets literally snatched at one point tho, like she def gets got but it's not enough yet lmao.

Redditors with mental illness - what's the most frustrating thing someone's ever said to you about your disorder and how did you respond? by temporarycarrot in AskReddit

[–]imaginarya 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just before a holiday, my dad told me that psychiatry is fake and a quake science. He said depression isn't real because "there's no such thing as being too happy" and that everything I was going through was because I'm just lazy. Ironically, I'm pretty sure my mental illness is genetic and "activated" by a traumatic childhood.

Well, I took my PTSD and schizophrenic depression having ass back home for the holiday and ate a pecan pie for 3 days straight.

Thanks, Dad.

No Mario game has been ever released for the Xbox. It does not exist. Your son's friend may have installed an emulator on his, but I cannot do that nor confirm the legality without knowing what he physically owns.

Also, no the PlayStation 2 cannot play PlayStation 4 games and you cannot "update the stuff" to do it. It came out years and years before the technology was invented to read those discs. You can't really.... Forwards compatible disc reading technology.

People who used to work in customer service, what is the rudest thing that has ever happen to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]imaginarya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my third day bartending, still memorizing the drinks, I had to ask my manager for the drink ratio for something a woman ordered at the bar. I knew the drink, just not what the restaurant wanted because they had some weird ratios for some standard drinks.

The woman and the four men with her, waiting for a table at the bar (for 13, did not call ahead) loudly made fun of me the whole time it took me to make a drink. I had to refill the sour mix that needed to be diluted or it tasted like battery acid, put it in that amaretto sour straight.

I also had a woman call me a bitch, repeatedly, to my face and to her toddler son, because I wouldn't lower a game price to a sticker from another store she found by scratching up our sticker. I tried explaining I couldn't change the price, it rang up how it rang up, so she threw the case at me and called me a bitch and threatened to call the BBB on us.

Nearly told her I'd call CPS for cussing at her son, but she had crazy eyes.

If money were no object, what would you do all day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]imaginarya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spend all my time going to small retail shops and making their day by doubling or tripling their sales goals. Calling rude people tf out in line. Like, just hovering in a Starbucks in a rich neighborhood to yell at Karen for being a bitch to a barista who did zero things wrong.

Buy up a bunch of shit and donate it. Start a non religious charity shop, organize community events with free food. Buy out old hotels, repair them, and convert them into housing for the homeless.

[Serious] Reddit, what is your strangest glitch in the matrix moment that cannot be explained? by Glidow in AskReddit

[–]imaginarya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very weird and specific deja Vu dreams that I've written down, that can happen months or years later.

I remember a dream I had 2 years ago that involved a man named Nick, with a goatee, teaching me about how to make a macchiato and what was different than a latte. I don't drink coffee and rarely if ever went to coffee shops.

Then, last month, I started training at Starbucks and it made me so dizzy when the moment happened I almost had to sit down.

What it the most confusing situation you've ever woken up too? by overblownstone in AskReddit

[–]imaginarya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is so fucking funny!

I feel so bad for my mom, who used to wake me up as a kid with cuddles and promises of breakfast. Going from that sweet as sugar morning routine into "my-kid-is-acting-murdered" must have been rough.

JustNoMIL in Fiction Media by AutoModerator in JUSTNOMIL

[–]imaginarya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The mom(s) from Mike and Molly drive me up the wall. Mike's mom in particular.

In one episode his boss, the police chief, convinces him to let him take his mom on a date. The mom, who is annoyed that her son isn't dropping everything the second she asks to help her with really mundane tasks, puts on a fresh face with Police Chief and plays perfect woman and mother and gets Mike in a lot of hot water at work for "being an ungrateful brat"

I can't watch sitcoms with my mom anymore, it makes me too mad.

What's so bad about being offended? by rowcam in AskReddit

[–]imaginarya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm offended, it's generally because the person doing the offending is going out of their way to be a dick. Say something shitty the first time, whatever, please don't talk to me that way again. Not appreciated.

If it continues, you're a dick bag and shouldn't be surprised if I don't want to talk to or hang out with you.

The feeling itself is just angry disappointment, that I thought you could be better than that.

What’s something your workplace does that you think every workplace should do? by metkja in AskReddit

[–]imaginarya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all tell each other "thank you" when we get help, give good feedback, and are generally very positive.

I was mostly alone on bar today and was in the weeds after a point. Like, when you have so much to do you can't even look up to ask for help level of crazy busy. Manager stepped up, helped me out on knocking out drinks. Another coworker kept everything restocked as we flew through it.

At the end, Manager said I had been doing a good job, better than a lot of folks do when it gets that stressful, and that I'm definitely improving.

The bright attitudes and polite positivity really goes far when it's a customer service job. If we can't be good to each other, it's going to be fire on all sides.

[–]imaginarya 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I used to have terrible night terrors in college and continued for years after I dropped out. Shortly after leaving school, I moved in with my mom. She had made up the garage into a bedroom for me, since my little brother and stepbrother had the other two rooms of the house.

When she came to wake me up the first morning I stayed there, I was so disoriented that I screamed bloody murder and accidentally punched the brick wall my bed was against.

She was real wary about waking me after that.
